the media is the reason why people are always complaining.. whenever gas goes up, its all over the news and it makes headlines...what are people suppose to think when thats all they see?.. when gas goes down, the media dont talk about it much.

my family owns a gas station out in fresno, we only make around 10 cents for every gallon we sell...we make more profits from our carwash and our store selling snacks and beverages..
I didn't accuse your family or any other gas station owner of gouging consumers, so I apologize if that's what you were thinking. My statement was directed at the oil companies, not at those who resell gasoline.
Inflation adjusted gas prices were the lowest during the 90's. However inflation adjusted gas is now actually at it's highest price since 1920 according to this chart.

Coincidentally this falls in line with the major oil companies reporting record profits. Again I'm not taking a shots at the family owned and operated gas stations but at the big guys.

Edit: damn you Chad, beat me to it

Don't be so sensitive man, I didn't gear anything towards you. If my message came across that way, then me bad. Similar to Jason, I'm not taking any shots towards any gas stations owners. $hit, I wish I owned a gas station. When I posted this tread, I post it because I never seen or experienced or ever noticed that gas priced hiked up $0.30+ cents within a couple of days. PEACE!!

Actually you probably don't. I read an article (SF Chronicle)on independant gas station owners and how little profit a lot of them make. Ah well, back to gas drama

Dang, sucks to live in Cali.

Gas price here recently went down. Exxon & Texxaco is around $2.35/gallon

But, you have the consider the living expense differences within each states.

Crap, I heard Cali grocery baggers make upwards of $12+/hour vs. $8 or $9 in Dallas.

Is that for regular unleaded or super unleaded? I got regular unleaded for my Prius at $2.379 on Sunday in SF (at a station that takes credit cards so I can get 5% back from my CC company), which actually is considered pretty cheap for the SF bay area.

To get an idea how much regular unleaded costs around here, check out www.sanjosegasprices.com and http://www.sanfrangasprices.com/. That site doesn't track premium though.

Agreed! Also note that prices went down around Christmas to help the retailer. Got to keep the economy looking good. Remember the country is run by an oil barron.
