Default Where to go for an oil change?

Not sure if this has been posted/answered yet..But do you San Jose guys know where I can bring my car to get the oil changed? I want to provide my own oil and filter. Just need the service? The car is at 7100 mile and I've been reading that there is a plastic cover under the car that needs to be removed. So I don't wanna take it somewhere that has high school kids working part time to f*ck up. Or is it a pretty easy task that I can have done at any corner gas station mechanic?

Don't go to Jiffey Lube... you really have to watch them to make sure they don't put that recycled oil crap in your car like the did me a couple of times. I think they pay about .10 cents per quart for that recycled stuff, then charge you $60.00 plus for an oil change. I would take it to a Nissan dealer, they at least would put fresh spec oil in your car, or do it yourself.

If you have done oil changes before...Just do it yourself very easy to do. The only time consuming part is taking off the ten or so bolts from the plastic shield under the car. After that it is like any other oil change. Just remember to replace the copper O-ring. Which is located on the bolt that drains the oil. You can get it at the Nissan Dealer for about 0.35 cents. And 5 quarts of oil is all you need.

I would do it myself but I'm a lazy motherfocker. The only reason I ask is because I want them to use the oil/filter that i want. So if I bring it to the dealer or even an oil change place, will they let me use my own supplies?

San Leandro Nissan . . . no appts and find coupons, bring your own mobil 1 and the change comes to ~$22 + own oil. I let Nissan do my last oil change last month because I'm past the 60500 miles and warranty out of the question now.

Tung Auto Repair in san jose. (Tully & Senter. Same place with Costco)

$10 when you provide your own filter and oil. They change the oil for me for the 5 times already.

Good luck with ol' Capitol Nissan, those ***** can eat my shorts.

After my first oil change debacle with Capitol Nissan (search for Capitol Nissan, I know I posted about it), I now do my oil changes myself. Even after buying the oil and filters it still comes out to less than an hour using ramps and I know it's done right. Plus, while I am in there I swap my Injen filter for my spare clean one.

I save the receipts for the oil and staple it to a hand written note with mileage, date and parts used and keep it with all my other car papers.

If I was gonna take it somewhere it would be ZCG.

You don't need to drop the entire belly shield. Just jack the front up and unscrew the front 6 or so bolts. The shield has a seam near the middle, and you can bend it down and out of the way and get to the oil filter and the drain plug. It is a 15 minute job, and oil recycling is free.

That's where my family brings all their cars. They're pretty cheap for oil changes. Good prices for most other work.

Sorry to hear about that but mine went OK.... the front desk guy greeted me nicely and I was walking around to check out other cars while i waited for my car to get serviced....one of the salesmen came out and showed me different cars even though he knew I had no intention to buy.....

Other than the wait (1 hour), everything went smoothly for me...

It has 14 bolts total and a clip. I just did my first oil change for my Z last week and it was really easy.
