Default Can't fill the gas tank to full?!?

I have a 03' Z and recently i noticed that i cannot fill my gas tank all the way....??

It will only go about 7/8 full. I also had that factory recall to replace the gas hose....

I am curious if anyone is having this problem.

One advantage of this "issue" is keeping my fill up cheaper??!!!!

Happens to me once in a while.

Trick: Flip the gas nozzle upside down & it will fill up. You just have to make sure you don't overflow your tank.

When my car got shipped over from Hawaii, it would stop very early at around 2 gallons. I thought maybe my gas went bad during the 3 week shipment. I also addressed this problem by flipping the filler up side down and when it was full, it would click like normal. After a few fill ups I could pump gas normally and everything was fine.

I have the same problem on my 2004. And there is a fix to get rid of the problem. I just had mine done at Falore Nissan in Sunnyvale about a month ago. And no more fill up problems. I have attached a link to the Nissan Fix below. If you are still under warranty it would be fixed for free and if, you have the extended warranty it would be a $50.00 deductable.

Deductible? Thats STUPID. Its like an unsolicited recall. Why should you pay for their mistake?

How do you know you can't fill the tank all the way up? I know my gas light comes on and I am only able add 12 gallons. I always just thought that my gauge was wrong. Maybe I'm not filling up all the way.

hey ready to be married person

I am almost like you now... I can only put in around 12 gallons. My fuel gauge use to go to the Full indicator. Now it's just slightly below it. I also remember i use to be able to put in around 18 gal... let me see.. the new problem saves me $3.5 x 6 = $21 on every fill up!!!

Every time when I used to pump gas the pump shuts off. And I can't add anymore fuel to the tank. If I try to lightly squeeze the pump handle I can put fuel in but it will over flow out. This happens because the shutter valve is malfunctioning in the gas tank.

I had Redwood City nissan look at mine last month and they said they couldnt' get to the gas tank because my roll bar was in the way. Since it's welded in, I guess I'll be living with it.
Funny though I thought my gas gauge was off so I would ignore the gas light and keep driving. I guess I was lucky that I never ran out of gas.

Default Gas Tank.

I recently had the low gas indictor go on this wekend, so I filled up and it only took 9 gallons. It has only been 3 weeks since I had the gas filler hose replaced on the recall notice.

I could fill the tank up and only drive 26 miles and the fuel gage drop to quarter tank. This is becoming a PITA!
