seriously i get what ur sayin. My parents had nukes aimed toward my room when i told them that i was goin 2 a cc. now that i have all of the hella hard prereqs done with a 4.0 and some scholarship money, they're cool (i got into davis tho, but whatever).... ok, we have 2 hustle u into Cal somehow, lol!
i feel that going through the freshman experiences, first sense of emotional independence, freedom, dorm food, late nite water balloon fights, all nite counterstrike (i quit the habbit after college), stay up till the crack of dawn with ure friends talking about life, walking through a college campus, going to your first frat party, seeing how many ice cream sandwiches u can hid in ure pocket, goign to a schoool rally u have no idea why ure there, etc is very important because those are "college" experiences. yea u can wisk through college and only focus on academics, but there is a whole another part of college that isn't shown on the college profile page. if in college u can balance social life and academic life, then ure golden. don't forget to have fun and explore cause the real world is nothing like it.

Dom University is great, S.R. is a very nice area, they have lots of interesting things to do in the area, you are about 10 minutes from Lucas Ranch, and Brew Co. is down the street from school (great beer, food, fooseball). If you got in there for school, you will not be disappointed.

If you're looking for a smaller private college in Northern CA, I'd suggest Santa Clara University (http://www.scu.edu). It's in the San Jose general area (not the greatest place, but there's stuff to do near by) and has good programs in Business, Engineering as well as a good pre-med program.

If your GPA is too low, do what I did: two years at community college then transfer (they won't even check your SATs or your HS GPA if you do that) to wherever you want. Some of the *private* colleges will also accept you after only a year/year and a half of community college (I transfered to SCU after a year and a quarter at a CC).

Good luck.
