Dom University is great, S.R. is a very nice area, they have lots of interesting things to do in the area, you are about 10 minutes from Lucas Ranch, and Brew Co. is down the street from school (great beer, food, fooseball). If you got in there for school, you will not be disappointed.

If you're looking for a smaller private college in Northern CA, I'd suggest Santa Clara University (http://www.scu.edu). It's in the San Jose general area (not the greatest place, but there's stuff to do near by) and has good programs in Business, Engineering as well as a good pre-med program.
If your GPA is too low, do what I did: two years at community college then transfer (they won't even check your SATs or your HS GPA if you do that) to wherever you want. Some of the *private* colleges will also accept you after only a year/year and a half of community college (I transfered to SCU after a year and a quarter at a CC).
Good luck.
