Dominican University of California?
errrr....I have no idea about anything in norcal... so I'll ask here. >__<"
I receieved a letter from them in the mail...and I'm sort of considering applying there next year (I'm a junior now), and visiting the campus this April during my spring break...but I have a few questions about the area...
Is there an airport that is close to the school? Also, are there hotels/motels near the school? and does anyone have anything to say about the school and it's surrounding areas?
thanks~

I didn't say it didn't exist, I've just never heard of it. Lived in the Bay Area all my life, cept when I went to the University of California, Riverside... never heard of the Dominican campus.. But yeah, just 12 miles away from the city is perfect! I'm about 30, and it makes it a b1tch to make the drive everytime you wanna hang..

Hahahaa... Usually I would agree with you. Cept I went there for the BioMed program which is a nationally known accelerated joint medical program with UCLA Medical School. They had us taking the MCAT after our Sophmore year. Can't say I had a horrible time there though.. A lot of fun memories.. Its college!

but one of the reasons I really don't want to go for UC is because I don't learn in overcrowded lecture halls with teachers that just...drone, on and on... that's why i'm looking at small liberal arts colleges...and mostly out of state...and my mom's getting really pissed about that ahhaha~

Is the school acredited? Because if it isn't I can start one out of my backyard too. I don't know what the California state college guildlines are but I know here in Texas if you are in the top 10% of your high school class then you get a huge break. If you don't think you can get into a good school by making up for your grades through your SAT score then you might want to consider Community College. I've heard California got some of the best in the nation and it's a cheaper method to get rid of all your basic classes. Go there like a year, transfer to a UC school with a high GPA, and you may even get a scholarship going in. That would have been my route if I had known any better instead of spending 5 years at UT.

You only get a break with State schools.. so UT, A&M, Tech, etc are the ones you are automatically accepted to. With private schools, like Austin College, Baylor, SMU, etc, that's not possible.
And as far as going to a community college for a year then transfering, that all depends on what you want to do. If you're on a strict program like the pre-med program, you can't afford to lose a year doing basic courses.

(plane, hotel, food, ect.) and if I go to an out of state college that's not in her selection of states...I get to pay it all when I get out of college. I stay in cali/minn/mass, she pays. arghhh. 짜증나 죽겠어!!!!!!!
