Only think that is a tad bit akward is that there is only 13deaths from street racing... What about the other 1000+ deaths from other things such as guns... Rape + murders -etc-. But they chose to spend there time on the street racers with 13 deaths. Not that it doesnt need to be dealt with... but they are taking so much time and resources that could be better spent elsewhere.

All they're doing is setting an example.
If you're stupid enough to street race, you could get your car crushed.
Personally, I'm 150% for it, but that's probably the same mentality you'll find among anyone who actually uses a track, not the street...
Street racing is for idiots. Crush till they're all gone.

When police popped open the hood, Hoang said, they found a stolen transmission. Hoang flashed a receipt for the transmission he bought from his father who runs an auto shop and doubted the item was hot.
"Everything on that car was practically brand new," Hoang said as he watched his car get moved to auto death row. "They should take out the stuff that matters, auction it off, and give the money to charity."
Because racers put heavy stress on their vehicles, they often burn out or blow up parts. Higbee said the need for the expensive parts has created a "theft mill" where additional cars—usually Hondas or Acuras—are stolen and stripped of the necessary replacements.
Most of the cars police examine are illegally modified.
Sergio Zavala, 18, was pulled over in his 1993 yellow Honda Civic for a broken tail light in December. He had purchased a B-20 Vtech engine with a double-overhead cam a couple months before, and after a police investigation, was told it was stolen.
Zavala, who admits he's been involved in street racing,
estimates he and his mother spent about $10,000 on improvements to his car.

man, you guys are harsh on the econobox crowd arent ya?
i agree most civic guys who pretend their cars are fast are just jokes...
but in all honesty, there are quite a few civics and tegs out there i have met in the past i would be hesitatnt to challenge with my stage II+ LGT...TSX motor swaps plus superchargers make them pretty light and poewful little things...
on a side note:
last night at around midnight, somedude rightoutside our development decided to show off his ***** size...uh...horsepower, and do a burn out in the road on hillsdale...
what we heard was:
wooom vrrooommmm ---- (peeling out sound)---2 seconds later--errrrrrrr (horrible tire screeching sound as the car slid)---1 second later---cunch crackle crunck bam bam crunch...and then that peaceful silence as i fell asleep lol
this morning i found a single peel out mark, followed by four sets of sideway skid marks--right into curbe then lightpole and the curbe again, shards of glass and metal...looks like he rolled it...though probably nothing bad since it was a pretty slow impact...
anyway, just wanted to share this...at least he 2was just racing agianst his own ego...

Too bad his car couldn't beat a cop car
