Cool Need Minor Help: Window Motor Replace

Hey Guys,

I finally did my first real maintenance work on my 350z, and no surprise to anyone here I'm sure, it was my window motor replacement. I did a lot of research on these forums and around the net and found pretty much what was needed.

After a couple hours of figuring out how to get the door off, making two trips to the hardware store (needed 10mm wrench and then an extender for my ratchet to get the passenger door off) I finally got all the way down to the motor. Cleaned it out with a toothpick, q-tips and rubbing alcohol...to make absolutely no difference.

Granted these motors have been so worked over and banged (REALLY HARD) the last couple months. I'm sure they just need to be replaced. ANYWAY...

I'm looking for someone to help me with my motors replacement (both windows). I've done all the hard work and pretty much all the screws have been taken out (put a couple back in just to hold it together). I'm looking to pay 35 -> 50 bucks for someone to basically help me with the tracks; not to mention previous experience with this.

It seems like a lot of people have done this many times so I'm sure someone out there can help me with this over the next week (or weekend). Give me a call or an email anytime.

Thanks guys!

P.S. As for location I'm hoping to find someone in San Francisco (i live in north beach) but am willing to drive anywhere.

Jason, when you openned up the motor and cleaned it, did you remove the entire magnet spindle out of the motor housing and clean inside the cylinder cavity? THAT is the location that gets carbon build up and almost all people attempting to repair their motors misses that.

The magnetice spinder can be unscrewed out of the motor housing when you twist it out.

I've done it on a number of other member's cars here as well.

Yep, followed the directions online. Took the magnet spindle out and used toothpicks to scrap out the vertical lines as well as that whole area. After that cleaned out the housing and the part that it fits in. It's pretty damaged and I'm not surprised it didn't work. I've been banging on it for almost a year and recently hit it so hard my hand hurt for awhile. Anyway, would you be down to work on it any day this week or on the weekend?

Thanks jinsei!

Jason
