Default Good Driving Roads?

Any recommendations on some nice roads to drive on around Fremont / Union City etc. ?

Only "road" near me is Calaveras but I'm tired of it and there's a ton of gravel on the road now. There's also Palomares but that's short and I think there's cops watching it

Have you tried Highway 9? Not near Fremont but it's in the area.

If you don't mind going too far, Yosemite roads are a blast. We have some great roads here in Fresno too!

9 and 17 are ok but way to busy and you got to go way to fast to have any fun, besides they are nowhere near Fremont.

How about Mt. Hamilton?

Head out Niles Canyon starting at Mission
Take this past (jump on/off) 680 and continue on to Livermore, just warming up really, got to get to the run.
Right on Vallecitos Rd.
Right on Concannon Blvd.
Right on S. Livermore Ave.
Right on Mines Rd., now you are on your run. Mines meanders around the back country with much of it one lane so keep your wits about you.
Mines turns into San Antonio Valley Rd. at the Junction
Continue on San Antonio Valley Rd., all of this is two lanes.
San Antonio Valley Rd. turns into Mt. Hamilton Rd. This is probably my favorite part, it is a good twisty climb but with the power of the Z, it's nice.
When you get near the top, be quiet, the people up there work all night and sleep in the day time so respect that or the Sheriff will be up there again busting people for no front plates and noise.

At the top there is a Right into the Observatory driveway, there is a little building there. Take a tour of the observatory, use the restroom, get a soda from the vending machine and take a look over the edge.

Head out and make a Right on to Mt. Hamilton Rd., this is all two lanes but they are tight. Don't get ahead of yourself or you will end up like that motorcyclist a few weeks back.
Take Mt. Hamilton Rd. to Alum Rock
Left at Alum Rock Ave. and head out to 680 and get home.

Yep, one of my favs beside that run is down by you.... You know south on Hwy 1 through Big Sur. ;-)

Oh, another area I've got to check out with the Z. Fort Brag along Hwy 1 up north. Last time I was in the 30' Motorhome. Twisted S#!t !!!
Two light house up that way ... lost of fun to see.

We should do a GTG up north I think in the spring ... through the Redwoods and all.

HyperSprite: Awesome write up! I definitely want to get out there now.

Z_Driver: Great picture of the Lick Observatory, Thanks.

When the weather improves, we should set-up a Meet & Drive Event.
