Yo Guys,
Looking for some road wisdom.
I'm thinking of going up to Oroville tomorrow and taking 70 to Quincy then 70 & 89 to Sierraville. Then back 49 to Grass valley.
I've driven 49 & enjoy it.
Never been on 70 and 89 up in the mountains though. Anyone driven it? What do you think? About same as 49? Better? Worse?

So did ya drive it?
How was the qaulity of the road surface? My car has really been hating bumps lateley (needs new shocks cough).
I love HWY 49 if theres not a lot of traffic. I've driven the Z on it a couple of times and ridden sportbikes on it a half dozen times. Don't think I've ever taken the route you did before though.

Got about 10-15 miles east of Oroville on 70 but backed off.
Before I left home, I checked weather for the mountains; it said 30% chance of thundershowers. I looked out window at home, saw perfect sky & said "no way".
Noted clouds as I approached Oroville. By the time I was headed up on 70 there were very dark clouds in the mountains.
Asked myself if I really wanted to be driving new-to-me mountain road in thunderstorm. Answer came back: "no". LOL!

Great driving road once you get past the lake and top the hill, best driving at dusk very little traffic. i drove part of it in my 04 Z, trying to keep up with my bros new Caymen, did pretty well until my brakes heated up. Be careful it is a public road ,
