sorry to hear about your incident. I had my car hit too about a 9 months ago waiting at a stop light at a busy intersection. I was hit on the right side rear. luckily everything had been replaced and came out good.

I got rear ended last year by a guy who is 2 days older than JESUS! He rear ended me, panicked rear ended me again, panicked YET AGAIN and rear ended me again. He hit me 3 times. I ended up in hospital 2 transfusions, and a broken back. Make sure to take of your self and rest. Cars can be fixed.

other than the money for your car, be absolutely sure to:
1. let the opposiing insurnaec agent know your neck injury
2. go to a doctor and get it checked out and issue a diagnosis
then negotiate with the insurance agent on compenstation, a bad whiplash can have long lasting effects, and sotmimes you dont feel the worst until a few days later. most insurnace agents are allowed a certain amount of compentation payout for physical injury with on the spot, but dont take the initial offer, add your time loss from work and other issues, and hell, even think about taking on an attorney (be sure to mention this fact to the insurance agent) and try to get as much compenstation as possible for your injury.
Dont like of course, like saying you cant feel your legs or anyhting like that, just be honest about it and say it hurts a lot ad affects a lot of things.
When i was rear ended 7 years or so ago, in a very similar situation (stop light, a honda civic nailed my car going 35-45 while i was stopped behind a line of cars), my neck hurt so bad 4 days after the accident and i had such a headache i could hardly walk.
I ended up getting about 3500 for my injuries on the spot. my freinds told me i could have gotten more, but i felt it was fair for walking around with severe neck pain for a week and a half, and not being able to work for that long. classic whiplash...
anyway, good luck and be sure you are rightly compenstated for your loss and injury!

That sucks, I got rear-ended after having my car for only 1mos. To top it off, the guy tried to run away. So with a messed up rear, I chased his *** ,he got stuck between a stop light and got his license plate. I was so pissed I had to park and calm myself down.
It was a little worst than yours, my rear beam actually broke in half, I actually thought they were going to total the car, but after $12k of repairs my car was back to me in a month. After that the car didn't feel the same anymore. =(
