Be sure to go to avic411.com and figure out how to do the bypass, otherwise you can't use the navigation functions while moving. It's a PITA having to stop to enter an adress. It's so much easier just entering the adresses on the fly while driving, and it's really not that dangerous unless you're a total schmuck of a driver.

Thanks for the advice...that was the first thing I did after I purchased the unit; it seems pretty straight forward.

the only real issue i had when installed my f90bt is the wires. You really go to tuck them in nicely to make room. You'll see what I mean.

Yeah no kidding buddy! I decided to give it a shot last night...I got it in and working (for the most part). Pretty sure I didn't wire the bypass correctly (need to make sure the mute wire is completely in the harness). The previous owner of my car had an amp installed so there were 2 LOC's (Line Output Converters) in there and they are taking up way too much space. I will cut those out tonight, make sure the mute wire is installed correctly, and try to pack everything in nice and neat.

At first I was overwhelmed a little bit, but I'm very happy I decided to do this myself, good experience. I don't think I will ever pay someone 200 bucks to install a cd/nav system ever again. Hopefully my next post will be a final install post with pics!

Honestly it gets easier each time. I had done it about five times and it so easy now to take it off, but putting and making it fit in is the hardest part. But it is always worth it to do yourself because during the install there are so many opportunities to scratch things up and since its your car you will always take your time. If it was an installer they just wanna get it done.

Get the F700bt, not the F90bt... I got the F90bt, and it's over-rated; really not much better. Check out the features of each. You really don't need the MSN support... I don't use it. The F700bt is a matt plastic faceplate, not gloss like the f900 and f90... I think matt looks better honestly though.

I didn't think I would really use MSN Direct or the dvd player (I just throw the movies on my ipod and I'm good to go). Those two reasons alone helped me decide to go with the F700bt. The boot up time sucks, but I can deal with it...takes about a minute for the unit to be fully operable.

Did you download the update? It loads much faster with the update.

It already had the update. If I leave the music playing...that will start pretty much as soon as I start my car. Everything else still takes a while!
