hahaha, im asian and i know what you're talking about! I like to sing in the car more than i do at a kareoke, I seem to sound better when I'm alone. Wife will be with me on this trip though, so I cant go all out...

Scott - thanks for the V1 offer. I actually have an Escort passport so I should be alright. I dont plan on driving too fast, as the wife is more audible than the radar detector. She doesnt like me going past 80...

One of my family friends dad who used to be CHP told me to look at the overpasses on 5 and see if there are people standing there or a couple of cars cause those are most likely cops radaring people.

used to do the I5 drive quite often in the past, it was really fun before the whole crackdown and budget deficit - people were doing 100+ and there were some doing beyond that making the 100+ traffic looked like a stand still. I, of course, only did 70 at the time - because I was driving my crappy student car.

Anyway, I5 is a 5-0's hunting ground now - my co-worker got a ticket because he was doing 75, it was him and 2 other cars (traffic speed was 75) - all got ticketed!

Be careful, especially during the holiday season.

LOL.

When I used to go to school in LA, I drove a lot. Some more tips from what I've found..

152 W/E is a lot more littered with cops than the midsection of the I-5 taking you down Central California. From what I hear, cops like to linger just outside big cities (i.e. Gilroy, entering LA, etc) as opposed to the wastelands. Personally I've been pulled over once in each area, but never in the middle and I cruise control it ~90.

Good luck and have fun in Irvine!

i travel quite a bit from Bakersfield to San Jose to visit GF. be careful on the 152 theres always cops there, some hiding on the corners, some are parked when your driving downhill on teh sides where you can see them. Also be careful near 152 and I-5 within the 10 mile radios or so. I have always seen cops in that area. Umm oh yea while passing through Bakersfield, be careful there is ALWAYS CHP. and then once again, the grapevine, the speed limit drops quite a bit, so pay attention, and yes cops monitor that place as well. These are the main places ive seen cops, but ive noticed most traveling from the opposite direction with their radar on and then turning around to get the speeders more than hiding under overpasses.
