So what the heck do I do with the DMV fee? Are they going to send me a new one, or will I have to pay this and wait for a refund? Hmm...

Gotta pay it whenever its due. If it's now, then you gotta wait for the refund.

Oh, of course. Wait to pay until the last day (which involves having to pay at the DMV itself... yeah, ya gotta deal with the line that way, but... y'know...) if you have to, because the tax should be repealed by then. Others I know (and heard from the radio) are going this avenue.

Doesn't look like that you'll have long to wait... looks like he signed the repeal on the car tax today... The news said that it will take time for the DMV computers to be updated for the change, but you will get a refund for the extra expense (if you pay now). I personally would wait until a month until it's due to call the DMV to see what you should pay... I don't want to give any extra money that will lose interest, if you know what I mean... They might tell you the lowered rate, so that you can mail it in. If not, then wait until the day of (or a few days before). Refunds will typically take 90 days to be realized.

i heard that the prices won't be changed until spring of '04, so i guess you'll just get a refund in the future.

glad arnold wasn't lying bout the car tax thing.... surprised he actually did it so quickly.

Wait for the last day and you don't have to sit in line either. Just renew online. I did that for my CRX last year and it was pretty painless. Only thing is that you would get your sticker late, but that's not biggie. Just print out the payment screen and show it to poe if you get pulled over.

Thanks for the tip, bro. Glad to hear that the DMV has gotten into the 21st century...
