Default Service Fail

Hey Guys,

So I just got my 30k mile service done at Yarnell's. They're normally pretty amazing and I've been nothing but super happy with them the last 2.5 years.

However, I picked up my car yesterday after getting my 30k mile service done and today as I was leaving SJ coming to SF, I got up to about 50mph and I heard this whine coming out from the rear.

It's a repetitive whine and seemed to be matching the speed of my tires. The faster I went the faster the whine would get and vice versa. I hit some major traffic and had to slow down to 20mph after which the sound disappeared and was doing 85mph up to SF without issues.

Once I got close to SF I slowed down to 60mph and the sound came back suddenly - this time accompanied by the car shaking as well. This lasted about a minute and disappeared as quickly as it appeared.

I checked the wheels and the lug nuts seem tight. Exhaust pipes are tight as well. Anyone have any ideas as to what this could be?

Maybe they drained the diff and didnt fill it back up? Or maybe the transmission fluid didnt get filled up? Either way, contact the service manager and let them know of the problem ASAP before they try and use the "you waited too long, should have told us right away" excuse.

Drive it all the way back to the shop and ask them...

I would have pulled over and made them pay for towing back to their shop and make them fix it..

I have to ask - how much was this 30k service you got?

nah i'm not a chick...just a guy with limited time nowadays working in sf living in sj.

i didn't hear anything while turning, only going straight. would this rule out lack of differential fluid? i had no trouble shifting either.

30k service was ~$300.

the culprit: the emergency brake was tightened a little too much, causing the vibration after a certain amount of driving.

thanks for the help guys.
