On the Z I have Bilstein PSS, Michelin Pilot Super Sport (245 18x8.5 front, 255 18x9.5 rear), Front Stop Tech BBK w/ 309 pads (not too happy with these pads). Should work out...but it will be different from a full blown race car. Just got a JWT clutch/flywheel. Should last right? Anyone been out with the 309 pads?

Replacing/flushing the brake fluid, and getting an oil change. Any other suggestion? Would love to get a ride or two with yall who have Z experience.

Looking forward to it!

309s will work for most casual drivers. They are great for the $, and really spread across the stree/track cars well. Once you push that last 10-15% though, they will fade. The entry point for the next level of pads is substantial though, so I always tell people to use the 309s for as long as possible until they hold up your speed/safety/fun factor. Deranged - if you are coming from Spec Miata, where you use more momentum and brake less, I suspect you will be fine until you learn the Z a bit more. In two days of driving - that's a lot of time for the transitional learning curve! They won't last driven by a racer like yourself unless you baby them.

I have some RS3 tires if you are interested. Used 285s (were still good enough for 2:04.x at T-hill bypass at the last SpeedSF event) and NEW 275s that I don't need now. I also have some take off BFG R1Ss. Not class legal at 40 TWR, but thought I saw you asking around for some.

Yeah I am definitely going to have to get used to not driving a momentum car, so I will be lighter on the brakes during the first few sessions. I'll keep my eye (feet, really) on how the brakes are doing/feeling and I'll adjust accordingly. Got the system flushed, and got Hawk HP+ installed in the rear so it is feeling pretty good right now. I will miss have the RA1s and Hawk Blues.

Got all my stuff ready. Pretty excited, it has been nearly two years.

Plan is to stay in 1 or 2 gears first 2/3 laps and then start feeling out what the car is capable of. I'll be car #25, Silverstone Z.

So Much fun! Very tight and quick corners in the new section. It was too hot for my liking though, had to end both days a little early because of water temp issues. Here is a video of 1 full lap at the new track. Enjoy!

There were also plenty of spins, and so many s2000s ran out of fuel on track!

when it was 102* oil hit 233 water hit 215 on 1 warm up, 1 hot lap. Tires got so hot/were so dead that car was super unpredictable and chunking apart, literally falling apart into pieces. The track is fun, very tight, REALLY long, but fun! it will take time to get quick at but I think once you get quick on it itll be a lot of fun. My fastest lap was embarrassing, but I am uploading it! and you guys can make fun of my horrid driving :P

It's a very technical back side of the track. The RC1 will help with the grip for sure. I'm surprised the RS3s are that bad. What hot pressures are you running? I still use a set I bought in 2011. They are almost to the cords, and although they suck big time, they were still good for decent, controlled, laps, and are better than any other new butthole tire (V12, Nankang, etc.). I used them for SpeedSF earlier this year after using them for many, many, NASA practice events and about a dozen Seca events.

Heres some data from my 3rd session (102F)

tire temps

Left Front - inside - 150 - middle - 140 - outside - 131 - 31.5PSI
Right Front - inside 148 - middle - 133 - outside 128 - 32.2PSI
Left Rear - inside 145 - middle 140 - outside 135 - 32PSI
Right Rear - inside 150 - middle 143 - outside 141 - 32PSI

front tire 275 RS3
rear tire 285 RS3
front camber -3.3
rear camber -1.7

this was hot temps/pressure pulling off the track, this is however doing a single cool down, pulling in, parking etc. So in reality about 5-6 min after actually stopping a hot lap.

I bought some 18x11 square wheels and some 275 RC1 and 275 C51 for really cheap so should be interesting to see how those tires are. It seemed most of my issues were on the new track (not enough run time/no grip) but it also has to do with my shitty driving style from last weekend.

Heres a video of my mistakes too for lulz.

I bought a Pyrometer recently to get the temps also, I got very similar temps as you, My inside is hotter than the outside. I don't really know how to read them, or I maybe I am understanding it incorrectly.

When the Inside is hotter than middle and outside, I thought it meant too much negative camber, but it didn't make sense to me, because I am on stock camber -1 up front.

I read that before.

Mine is around 150 inside/145/140 outside @ 34-35 psi hot.
according to the article, my temps mean 2 things

1. Too much Toe or 2. too much camber.

Since it is probably not my camber... maybe my toe?

edit: I am running
1/8in toe-in for front
1/14in toe-in for rear.

Should I try changing to Toe-out for front instead?

Is this a LASER (non-contact) pyro? If so, take the data with a grain of salt as the contact ones are MUCH more accurate. Aside from that, I'd say front camber is too high and pressure is too low. Rear camber seems ok or a touch too much, pressure also seems low. Data aside, I like them at quite a bit higher pressure, especially to keep the sidewalls from rolling over. Also consider stiffening the front bar. Also - have they been flipped? I flip mine after every 3 events or so.
