Default I got robbed!

F'ing Fremont police....

I was coming down a steep hill by my house to get coffee! Like any normal person getting coffee.. i wasn't in a hurry and was just coasting down the hill enjoying the ride!

I did notice a motorcycle across the street sitting by the stop sign.. I was like, 'what the hack is he doing there, just waiting at a stop sign? (I did check my V1 and not a bleep!!!!)

so i passes the stop sign and noticed it was a motorcycle cop!! Fudge!
Soon as i passed him, he did a U and stopped me
He goes, did u know u are doing 48 mph at a 30mph zone? I was like.. dude, u clocked me on the bottom of the hill.. wtf? police department needs money again??? of course i didn't say that... then he showed me the radar displaying 48...
Was this a LADAR? that's why my V1 didn't go off?????
he continue to harass me about my tinted side windows and no front plate!
What a F'ing A hole!!!
he goes, i am gonna give u a break about the front plate and the tint it's just a fix it ticket and u can goto traffic school for the citation..
Thanks a LOT !$@#%$#@

Couple of questions..
why did the V1 not go off? i thought it would pick up LADAR?
If u know how i can get out of the window tint ticket, pls PM me...
I might know a place where i can attend traffic school w/o going!

Watch out if you are in the Fremont area! that was one expansive cup of java....sigh!

Sorry to hear that, but you're right, that's one expensive cup of coffee.

Sorry to hear about your problems. But................you were speeding and apparently have illegal tint and no front license plate. You broke the law and were caught. Just man up and get the problems corrected and pay your fines.

"did u know u are doing 48 mph at a 30mph zone?"

^So how fast were you going...48? Going almost 20 over any town/city/road will get you a ticket in their presence. Least he said will give you a break on tints and no front plate.

Your title should say 'got caught' not robbed.

End of story...

I have lived in Fremont for 10+ years now.... The only cop that scares me is Rossetti, he is a genuine A-Hole, no breaks from him. And yes, they have been using LADAR for a while now.

Edit: Did I mention, I lived up the street from the FPD station for 8+ of those years without a problem? The 2 tickets I have gotten were well deserved. I didnt like it, but i was in the wrong.

Usually it's called LIDAR, but in any case, the V1 would have likely picked it up... not that picking it up would have done you any good though. The reading is effectively instantanous.

LIDAR beam spread is only 3' wide at 1000' away. If the cop was close to you, which it sounds like he was, he hit you with a very small LASER spot size that the V1 may not have seen. Regardless, if the V1 went off, it's too late.

While I agree that detecting laser is rather useless, the V1 is extremely good at picking it up. Keep in mind that most officers don't use tripods and at 1000 ft, the dot in the HUD of the gun is about the size of a car... so it's not as if it's easy to be precise enough to avoid hitting a radar detector.

Maybe I'm missing something, and you seem to know about the subject so hopefully I can learn something here. If the beam spread at 1000' is 3', how can one's LIDAR detector emit a warning without the officer getting their speed? Assume that the detector is in the middle of the window, even at a 3' radius, the LIDAR can not hit an adjacent car and you at the same time (which would give the officer the speed of the adjacent car yet trigger your detector), can it?

When you get your summons in the mail.. see if they'll let you do a Trial by Written Declaration. It's got me out of two tickets so far.

Just curious, which part in Fremont was this?

Lived also in Fremont for 6 years and never ever got pulled over nor got a citation.
Lucky enough, I had never crossed path with Rossette. Thank God! Lol...

Sorry, I didn't mean that the cop wouldn't get a reading... just that the V1 should pick it up. Not that it will detect it 100% of the time... but more often than not, it will.

As for the OP, the cop may not have been using laser. He may have done a visual estimation... but then again, maybe the OP was lasered close range... where I think the V1 would be more likely to not detect it.

I plan to make this cop write to death over the holidays.... lol
This was near Paseo Padre Parkway and Pine...
Yeah, even if the V1 went off, it would have been too late.
oh well, should have taken the SUV instead...
I'll prob try to get a prescription from my Dr for the tint!
wish me luck on the trial by declaration!

Basically you argue your case in writing (also pay full ticket amount).. cop has a few weeks to respond.. if he doesn't respond you win. If you convince the judge (unlikely) should the cop actually respond you win. That is from what I've gathered anyways.
