Shucks, I did go with Ichiba, but it ended up being 153 shipped. Soon I'll have to start shopping for tires.....

I go through rear tires about every 10,000 miles. Anybody else go through their tires like that?

I am using Falken 452's....

yeah dude i was gonna say, you should comparison shop with vendors. Its usually cheaper than ebay for brand-new goods.

As for tires, i like to go to discount tire co. as they generally can get me the tires i want at usually the cheapest or 2nd cheapest cost. Im also really cool with the staff at their gainesville location so ive been a loyal customer for them.

big10 tires is also relatively cheap.

fyi: I usually use BFGoodrich KDW II if i have the money to spare but cheap out on FK452's if im strapped for cash.

Uhhh 10k is horrible. Are you lowered? Cuz my car (not lowered yet) lasted 30k miles with my Nitto Neo Gens from when I bought the car (idk how much tread it had when I bought the car but they were pretty new). Those specific tires are great for cars with a negative camber because they wear evenly since the inside is thicker than the outside. I actually just bought a brand new set last week.

A pic of brand new ones:

Mine when I got new tires (2/32" tread left):

And here's uneven wear (not mine, just an example):

So I would recommend either getting a different brand of tire, or at least try rear camber arms if you're going through tires that fast.

Also, PM me if you want a contact at Tire Kingdom in Altamonte. A friend of mine works there and he's the only one I let touch my wheels & tires lol.

I went through a set of kuhmos in less then 8k miles...but Im pretty sure my toe is jacked up...10k still isnt good.

When was the last time you had an alignment done?

From the pics of tires that arent yours it looks like they were running at least -2.5 camber..probably upwards of -3.5 The outside of them looks brand new still

honestly its not the camber that eats tires, its toe.

i've had at least neg 3 camber for in the rear for 1.5 years and havent suffered significant uneven wear (and my toe is within spec). I just got another alignment and im now sitting at neg 4.

Even if you're not lowered, if you toe is out you'll eat up tires in no time. Get an alignment. Get a toe/camber kit if the correction you need exceeds factory design.

Hey guys. I have been reading about tires. I always use Carlitos tires on Forsyth Rd. He has the best prices in central Florida. I'm not associated with him in any way other than he gives me great prices. For my Antera's 349 20's he hook me up with 295/30/20 and 245/35/20 for 780 installed and with high speed balance. I also have a Dodge Nitro and a new set ran me 320 with balancing also. Give him a call and tell him Charles with the white Z send you. He will hook you up!

^^Did you get a before and after alignment sheet? I went to carlitos last year, got my rear camber kit and toe bolts installed, new tires, and an alignment. My toe went out of spec within weeks after the alignment. Wore through my tires in a little over 5k miles. I never did ask if he does it by hand or computer.

You and a few other Z owners on the forums currently go to him.

I've heard good things about Carlitos before, but just today actually I heard someone say that his black wheels got damaged when they took the lugs off because I think they used the air compressor? I could be mistaken though.

pretty much all shops use air tools to take off wheel lugs. Its just how much care they use when they do it which determines if they damage wheels or not. Also, if you're one of the unlucky few, your tech WONT use a torque stick. That's why i like a) doing things myself or b) going to friends for everything else so you can specifically request certain things without getting hassled.

Oh yeah Got another alignment yesterday thanks to my buddy jon
F Camber: -2.5 deg
R Camber: -4.4 deg

Well Im about to start with a set of 295's on the rear so I figure I should get the camber and toe adjusted so my rears last longer then 5-8k miles. An alignment is just what I'll need. I figure I'll start with 295s and work my way to 305's. Possibly even 315's if I drop my rear camber to -3.5...but driving in the rain is my main concern.

My specs should be 305 tires, -2 camber, +3 offset in the rear when its all said and done.

I'll have the 245's with +8 on the front.

This flairing the rear fenders an inch on each side caused the body shop to keep the car so much longer then I wanted. Iv been without the Z for 3 weeks and its driving me nuts.
