Going to hawaii...
Specifically Honululu and Waikiki beach for about a week. Leaving in a couple days.
Can anyone suggest any good spots to hang out? night life? bars and clubs?
I've been there before but only did the the tourist thing. This time it's just relaxing with a bunch of friends.
Thanks alot guys!

Not too many hot spots here.
If you want to hear "Hawaiian" style music, the Mai Tai bar at Ala Moana Shopping Center is good.
The 25+ crowd likes to hang out at Ocean Club at Restaurant Row or Rumours at Ala Moana Hotel.
Most ppl come to Hawaii to sunbathe...and that's about it. Don't know much about the bars in Waikiki. We pretty much stay away from there except for cruzing in our Z's.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Maybe someone else has better suggestions?
If you ask me about where to eat...I've got lots of suggestions.
Have a great trip!

Aloha350z,
I would definitely appreciate your suggestions on places to eat. We all have to eat sometime.
I'm looking forward to the mama pop shop's and local eateries. Nothing too fancy.
Showstoppertk,
Well in the daytime we're probably going to do the beach thing. Do a little swimming, ATV riding stuff like that. We're a bunch of kids in our early to mid twenties, young graduates.
At night time? The girls like to shop/ guys hmmm.... I wouldn't mind going to where most of the locals hang out. Bars, coffee houses with live music sounds good.
Do you guys have any car tuning shops I can check out?
Thanks for the suggestions guys.

since you guys are staying in waikiki, there are plenty of places to catch a bite around there. nothing fantastic or anything, but if you just want to keep it cheap then its ok. however for shopping, waikiki is pretty expensive, you might want to direct your girls to Ala Moana shopping center or Pearlridge shopping center. During the day you guys might want to check out one of the various water sports companies that operate out of the Hawaii Kai area. You should be able to find their brochures all over any hotel, but some of them will pickup you up from the hotel and them take you out to a floating dock that has jetski's, parasailing, etc. Or if your into the snokeling thing, you can check out haunama bay (but go early and bring food, you can rent snorkel stuff there). As for night time it kinda depends on the night the week your talking about. A popular bar on fri and sat nights is mai tai's at alamoana shopping center. they're usually pretty crowded with a local mid-twenties single crowd, its an outdoor casual atmosphere with live music and $8 heineken pitchers. also popular with some of the college folks is magoos which is near the UH campus. keep in mind that pretty much everywhere in hawaii is casual. I personally wouldn't recommend rumors as its more of a 30+ club. I'd say thrusday nights Ocean club is probably still your best bet, its college night so it should be pretty busy (I haven't been out on a thursday in a year), they've got $3 coronas and long island ice teas, top 40 type music, and pretty good pupus (hawaiian term for snack foods), however arrive early as they tend to hold the line. Fridays I'd probably recommend the O-lounge which will have hip-hop type music. Sat I'd recommend either Oceans again, or the W or Chai's. Of course these are all clubs, if your into that kinda thing. if not, then I don't know too many coffee houses or dives....you might want to check out the weekly TGIF section of the Honolulu Advertiser, which you should be able to find online. As for tuner shops, most of our shops are small and don't stock many parts, but if you wanted to see what there is I'd check out Vakamon, Hypersports, and Eurosport since they are all within a block of each other. Let me know if this helps at all.

Oh man...
Just got back from Hawaii and I miss it already.
showstoppertk,
We checked out some of those spots you mention and had a blast. Went down to Haunama bay to snorkel....Mai Tai bar at Alamoana. The girls and guys got in some shopping there too. We planned on going to the "W" but were so exhausted from the daily schedule. Went to plenty of places that I cannot remember (liquid memory lost
) or to places with names I cannot pronounce, one of them being Zanzabar? Would have followed your list religiously if we had more time.
Spotted some Z's too, but don't know if you guys are on these boards.
On thursday I saw a silverstone with gunmetal 19's with polished lip at the gas station on McCully's. It had a bunch of chrome/shiny brand stickers stacked on the left of the driver's door with the biggest one being "Nismo". The guy was rolling with another friend who had a fixed up 04-05 rally blue WRX.
Overall one of the best trips I've ever had. I think I'm going to eventually move out to O'ahu some day or take a one way ticket out there and stay put until "Island fever" kicks in.
Definitely my kind of people, chill and kick back.
Once again, thanks for the suggestions guys.

great to hear you had a good time. its def hard to get everything you want to do, done in one trip. I had the same problem a couple months back when I was in socal. did you guys happen to check out "Brunch on the Beach" in waikiki this past sunday? I was actually staying at the Hyatt down there this weekend and happened to catch it.
I don't think that guy with the Z is on this board. did you get a chance to cruise by those tuner shops?

That sounds good but I guess we totally missed that.
The only non-hawaii thing we did all week was catch the "Charger/ Raider" game at "Da Dawg House" in the International Market.
I had a hard time convincing my travel mates to head to the tuner shops with me being the only huge car enthusiast on this trip.
There was a good amount of Z's out in Wakiki, I was surprised. Saw a couple of nicely modded ones cruise by, but most of them were stock. For some reason, I saw a ridiculous number of those new 06 Subaru WRX's. Either a rental company was renting those out, or they're just simply popular all of a sudden.
When we headed up to Diamond back on our rented Vespas scooters, I saw the new Ferrar F430 and a killer modded silver 911 Gt-2 (look-alike) cruising around those nice houses up there.
