Thinking about picking up an 06, but am very concerned with the oil consumption problem. Anyone else experience this problem and if so, what did the dealerships do about it?
thanks
thanks

Should I take a chance at one or just buy a 04-05 350 with a little higher mileage? My concern is I would be the 3rd owner of the 350z with 14k miles. Worried also about if the warranty is voided and where it was purchased.

*If you're gonna spend $20K+ on a car, you should just get what you feel comfortable with. don't let anyone else convince you to get something that they would get, cuz it's your cash. But there's about 4 guys with 06 and up Z's that cruise with us, and i've never heard any of them complain yet.
good luck with your choice.

My .02....
Get an 04' and use the cash you saved for an engine/ TT kit or what ever else you want to mod up. Hell, I've seen on 04' go for a decent price. If you do a forged engine you dont have to worry about the miles on the engine. You dont have to do any thing crazy with it. A simple .020 bore (96mm) weisco 9:1 pistons and some eagle H beam rods will be fairly cheap and get you alot of reliability if you boost.
If our gonna mod make you money work for you. If not then by an 07 and be done with it. But eventualy you will want to start tinkering.

yea i guess i'll pass on the 06. So tempting because it's the color i want (white) and love the head/tail lights and rims. But I guess i'd rather take a chance at tire feathering than oil consumption. Damn it's hard to find low mileage 6spd 04.5-05 350z's. As for mods, I'm almost done. After owning a turbo civic, turbo celica, evo, and wrx, I'm going on a semi-perm vacation

You'll want aftermarket rims anyways. coming from present experience...
and you previous cars must have been pretty fun too huh? I have a turbo gsr coupe, and it's just as fast as my Z (until about 145mph, then the Z's power and tranny take over). I had a nitroused out civic with a gsr motor, and that was very fun until the motor passed on, and it's so cheap to replace compared to a VQ...
*Basically, i just wanted to say that your decision to get a 350z, will have no regrets. It looks good even when it's stock. The power and speed is only compared to turbo cars (EVO, STI, SRT-4), and it's only a N/A V6. When you force induce a Z, the power will have to be compared to supras, highly boosted EVO's, etc... The potential is there, and just having people stare at your car when you're driving by is priceless.... I personally will not purchase another car unless it's a turboed model of the 350z...

***I LOVE THIS CAR!!! and i came from a family of boosted, nitroused acura/hondas... 350Z's is my new future...

06 MT @ 16,000 miles with Oil Consumption
Heading to New City next week to start an Oil Consumption check on the car. I know I'm gonna fail already, I've already dropped 2 quarts in under 2k miles since my last oil change.
Sucks cause I was going "new car, I shouldn't have to check on the oil, hell its less than a year old..."
Well after reading about the problem here on the forum I decided to check on it, low and behold, my oil was sitting middle of the H/L. Checked it a month later and I was below the L.
Filled a quart, and about 750 miles later and I had to drop another quart into the car. So long story short, I'm heading in to start my consumption monitoring.
Sucks, but will let everyone know how it goes.
P.S. My coworker just got his 2005 G35 back from Infinity for the same problem, weird thing is, sounds like they only changed his pistons and rods. Dunno, I told him I'd be pissed, and woulda rather have gotten a whole new motor from NNA. Hes gotta take his car back 1k from when he got it back for additional monitoring.
