Default Whos the guy with the 1TURBO lic. plate?

Dude...slow the f*ck down. Saw the car on Kapiolani last night, where the driver was cutting in and out of traffic. Then I saw the car at xylohs when we passed by later in the evening.

huh? nope.

the importance is that f*cker was cutting people off that was causing a chain reaction of people making abrupt stops. he blazed past us an cut in front the car in front of us...causing him to brake hard. then gets back out, speeds up and cuts in front of the he gets past because there were cars parked in the lane he was in.

but yeah...most of you mainlanders wouldn't understand.

Hey now I love to race and I have all the toys but come on last thing I want to see is more people dead. It's one thing to risk your life but to risk others especially kids is just retarded.

are you two originally from the mainland?

If you two lived here long enough to recognized the saying here "slow down, this not the mainland" then you'd ought to know what I mean.

ya i know what it means. Your white and dont belong here i was born here and im better than you. you took my land and now im pissed about it.

i get yelled at to slow down in residential areas when im going under the speed limit. so ya i got it.

Ya maybe the ****head on the highway was being retarded. but no ****ing reason to group everyone that wasnt born here into it. You think i want to be here? **** no. i got staioned here. hell ya i was in hawaii. But after seeing how a majority of the people living here are. I cant wait to leave.

Its amazing to see how people react to you here. People not as nice as they could be. then once find out my wife graduated from kahuku nothing but nice to her/us.

*sigh* Such Political and racial comments, statements and thoughts on a "car enthusiast" board. Kind of sad.

People here do over-react to some things in regards to the "mainland" issues/people and such. Cant agree to some of those things...though at the same time...you have to understand the background before you really can work things through.

In the past there have been many companies and corporations that have come into the islands and those companies have established their own people in positions of power. They did not understand the customs and general dealings that people here already work with, and thus kinda pissed everyone off. Those people had a "I know better than you since you live on a rock and I come from a bigger company" kind of an attitude, and that didnt go well too. That I believe filtered down to the personal level versus staying at the "workplace".

Now, unfortunately you got lumped into that catagory since you are from the mainland. I myself have been discriminated terribly against in the mainland, many times and treated like an outcast. Does that make me generalize everyone there.....no, but yes it does leave a bad aftertaste.

People will always generalize things...its easier that way to most. Now, I cant really say anything in regards to what can be done, and I really emphathize with you...but change is something that you will have to do to try to make it better....or just complain about it. Ask your wife to help you out a little perhaps. Like anyplace else...once they understand you a bit better as a person versus where you are from...they should accept you a bit easier. The place that you come from does not define you versus what you do as a person to and for others. The rest will be up to you. Hate and bitterness begets hate. Someone has to be the bigger/better man and work it through. If it cant be the people around you, then I hope that it can and will be you.

What 636racer meant by that comment was that the idea is the lifestyle here us supposed to be more laid back versus say NY in the mainland. Therefore, slowdown and enjoy the drive versus speeding around. Hence the old bumper sticker of "slow down...this isnt the mainland" Nothing to do with the people personally. It would apply to ANY idiot speeding on the roadways...not only to people from the mainland. Dont take that so personally. Its hard to say dont be so defensive with the assumption that you have been through hard times......but people are people...where-ever you go. Its not just a Hawaii thing.

Hope things get better and this thread gets back on track......to Safety on the Streets.

I'd say don't worry about it. I noticed that driving down here is getting worse. There seems to be more people driving reckless and plain out dumb.

On another note, hawaii is a brewing pot for sterotypes and racism. Don't worry too much about it. For example, when I had to make my weekly delivery to Hale Koa bxtra, there was an old man (guest) that told me; "Move you ****in jap." Just let it roll off your shoulder because those types of people are plain ignorant. Anyway...hope that made some sense.

You know it's just people being people. I've worked with and known a lot of people from the mainland and it's no different where you come from. Jackasses are jackasses. Some expect special treatment and those are usually the people that are immediately disliked. A lot are really cool guys.

I hope that I'm not grouped into your "majority of people living here" and unless you've met over half a million people (including those stationed here), you might want to reassess your statement about the majority of people.

Majority might have been a bad term. Most people i have met here are great people not a problem. all the guys ive met at meets are cool is **** and not a problem with one of them. So my mistake for saying a majority when that is simply not true. I'll leave it at that

point one finger at me, you have three pointing back at you. And how do you know that I'm not white? Think about it, thats why I wrote "most mainlanders". It's not your fault that, you/they dont know, nor is it mines/ours. Doesnt matter what race/ethnicity you are either.

I will not retract my statement, because technically..it's true.

it's one thing to be told how it is...it's another when you know how it is.
