I guess I am going to have to find a steering wheel, I butchered mine to relocate my cruise control. This wasn't an issue for me living in Florida. I am going to have to keep a look out for a wheel when I move there.

i dont know how hard they are to take on and off but i'd bet someone out here would let you barrow theirs for the inspection.

there actually really easy to take on and off. It only takes a couple of minutes. I guess I will finally have to take care of that airbag light issue. I need to get a resistor to trick the car into thinking that the bag is there. I am pretty sure I cut the wires, I hope I didnt though.

I know that I removed the center piece with that tape that alllows you to turn your steering wheel. I swapped it out for a hub from a guy even trade. Its not hard to fix, i just never got around to it.

That would be awesome if someone was willing to do it. It is just 1 bolt and 2 screws to take it off. If I am not mistaken, its been a while.

Default Moving to Oahu

What's going all ya'll? I'm actually gonna be moving back to Oahu at the end of May. I'm bringing my 2008 NISMO 350Z that I just picked up last week. I'm pretty new to the Z game so I would love to meet up with some other Z and NISMO Z Owners and find out what's up.

I was reading this thread about the RECON sticker. If my NISMO Z is bone stock, I don't have to get that do I?

Where does everyone get those plates to mount the safety inspections stickers below the bumper. Not trying to put any stickers on my car, so i'll be changing my plates from CA to HI too.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

-Jon

howzit Jon! No...your nismo will not need a recon sticker when you move here. Your car comes from the factory like that so its completely legit. We actually have a few Nismo's that joined the family recently...yours I'm sure will make a fine edition to the club.

Safety sticker plates can be found at any auto store. Looking forward to meeting you bro.

^^^I have a small plate that bolts up with the same bolt used to hold on the license plate. I'm not sure where it's from, but it came with my car from King Windward Nissan.

+1 on no recon BTW.

Almost there, I will be on the island on the 6th of March.

I am going to wait to bring my car over until I have a place locked down. I was told that if I park my car on the street, it probably wont be there in the morning or wont look the way it did when I parked it. Damn military will only ship one car as well so its going to cost me right around 3K to ship it. have to save up.

Does anyone have the measurements of that blue sticker and the recon sticker that I have to have on my car? I am going to have my body guy fab me a pice of metal and have it bolted to my rear bumper, I cant see me sticking those two stickers on my car. That is just crazy. Are you allowed to put the stickers on your rear window?

Does anyone know any houses for rent at the moment that have an enclosed garage? I am looking in the $2500 and less range. Somewhere out by schofield, ewa, waipahu, waikele, or those kind of areas.

Wait, so you have a plate that you can put a sticker on somewhere around your license plate? That would be perfect, but how does it not block your numbers?

Are you stationed at schofield?? I would try looking on craigslist. I'd stay away from ewa just because during peak traffic times, getting in and out would be a b!tch. Maybe look in waikele, waipio or mililani?? Maybe wahiawa, but some places there are a little ghetto. If 2500 is your budget, I'm pretty sure you'll find a place.

For the plate, I'll try to get the measurements of mine, I have the safety and recon stickers. FYI even though lots of people do it, it's illegal to have the plate bolted to your license plate, it's supposed to be on the bumper.

Thanks guys,

Yeah I am stationed at Schofield. Right now my orders say 3rd Bde 25th ID but I know that is always subject to change.

I am not looking to stay anywhere ghetto thats for sure. I am aware that I have to lower my standard of living since hawaii is pretty much old as far as housing is concerned.

How is housing on post, is there a waitlist?

Oh, here is a link to the work that is being done on my car at the moment in case you just wanted to look.

Small plate for the vehicle inspection & safety is not connected to the license plate. Plate uses the license plate screw to be secured.

Sweet, I am getting this. I will have to have a larger one made to hold that damn blue sticker but i like how this works. I was really having a hard time trying to figure out how to do this without drilling into my new paint job.

Does anyone have the measurements of that ugly blue sticker?
