Going to be moving to Hawaii soon, just waiting on orders verification. I am concerned about my car though. Here in Florida the roads are not that bad. I have only been to Hawaii 2 other times but I really didn't pay attention to the road conditions.
Do you think I am going to have trouble? I am also curious about the crime with car break in's and car theft of 350Z. I am also curious how the authorities are with modded cars?
Are there any good car meets on oahu? Doesn't matter where really. How are the locals with outsiders in regards to clubs and meets?

Road are fine. Just avoid the damn steel plates around construction area.
Only thing down here is recon for modded cars. But who really gives a crap (i have though).
As for theft, I've never had someone try to break in or anything. Most times all I get is "nice ride."

sup man welcome. my name is Brock.... im a ex-owner of a Z... but still out supportin our local Z team. its called OahuZ... so be on the lookout for threads on the team meets and location. jus ask away if u got any questions... and we're happy to inform you. regaurding your question on how us local z owners are with haoles... if you seen the team... there is more than half that are military. so i can say we SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! lol.
authorities... well... they dont mess with Z's too much. mostly the civic/teg guys. as long as your car doesnt sound like a lawnmower in distress... youre all good! note: mount your front license plate!
pertaining to hawaii's roads... hmm.. let me jus say.... THEY SUCK!!! well they dont suck as much as puerto rico (right junior PR?)... but they do deff SUCK!
so in the end... im lookin forward to meetin u. lates.

sup man! hope to meet u soon. sick ride u have there.
1. roads; not bad but be carefull, there is holes everywhere and ur rims will be hurting.
2. cops; they wont mess with you, but dont mess with them. hawaii have this law call "reconstruction permit", what it means is that any mods in your car have to be inspected and the have to be approve by the state. for ex. drop, exhaust, body kits with alt. to the frame, tinted taillights, ect. but i been here for 3 years and never got it. (u be fine)
3. the Club!; Oahu Z is one of the best clubs i ever been part of, the guys, the racing, the trill!! everything. u will like it! hope u can keep up! haha jkjk
looking foward to see u around! laters!

Yeah if ur really low the roads are terrible. Most guys don't bother with recon but without it you'll need to ask around for help getting a safety check. Also I noticed you track you're car from ur sig. We don't have a track unfortunetly.
Howzit brotha,
look forward to seeing you here....we got an awesome team and I think you'll enjoy hanging out with. If you're concerned about roads, you should be ok if you're not rocking the wrong roads at the wrong times (rainy season). As far as crime, most people appreciate a sick car like yours but it never hurts to have a good aftermarket alarm (Clifford, Python, Viper). Speed safe and be humble, you should be aiite. We're all about family here...everyone is cool!
On behalf of the officers and members of OahuZ, I welcome you aboard! (Even though you're not here yet!)

Thanks guys, I appreciate the warm welcome. I am really looking forward to meeting you all. I still have a little while to get final verification that I will be going but so far its approved. They just have to find me an assignment to put me in.
Dang, I have to mount my license plate on the front of my car. Even if its from a different state? If yes, that sucks. I dont even know where it would go.
No track, boo. I haven't tracked it in a while since I spent so much making it look like that. But you never know when you get the urge.
67ZNISMO do you guys have a members forum board I can jump on and keep up to date with your club exploits?

Any proposed dates for your move though?
you can always try not mounting a front plate, I've been driving around without one for over a month waiting until after HIN to mount it and I haven't got a ticket yet, but in all honesty in that time my car has only seen the road like 4 times. Without one though you'll run a higher risk of getting pulled over and if they do they'll hit you for everything else that's illegal on your car (like not having Recon). Is the Z your daily driver? To be honest if you're slammed or your kit is especially low you really won't want to use the Z very much. Yes my car is lower then normal (although I've seen people in states with better roads that are MUCH lower then me) but I almost never take the Z anywhere just because I can't make it up about 80% of driveways and more then half of the parking lots I can make it into are full of speed bumps that would scrap my sideskirts.
From what everyone says location is a factor too. Waikiki with all the rookie Popos like to pull guys over. That being said I cruised through there last night with no front plate, but it could just be a matter of time before I get ticketed.

i wanna live in hawaii, but it sure sounds like a pain as far as having a modded car...
First off, you'll love Hawaii and there's a great group of Z folk out here.
Second, sick Z.
Third, the roads out here SUCK.
Fourth, I would HIGHLY advise you raise your car up (or put your stock suspension on) before shipping it over here.
Fifth, as long as you don't drive like a dick, you shouldn't get much cop trouble. You will need to mount a front plate though... since I'm gonna take a stab and say you're car won't pass recon, no need to give HPD any reason to pull you over.

Howzit fella's thanks again for all the info.
I can say this, I am running turbo, no cats partially dropped suspension because I cant get in my driveway if I drop the front. Complete custom exhaust setup.
This baby is not my daily driver. She sees the road only on special occasions, meets shows or a really important night out on the town. I only drive her when I am not leaving her side for the most part.
I am on a 1 inch drop in the rear, the front is actually stock. The body kit is just really low.
No airbags for drivers side. I have a removable steering wheel.

I have a 4 point NISSMO harness taking care of me.

Being in the military, as far as I know I don't have to have Hawaii plates or drivers license.
Florida doesn't have plates on the front of the car. Would I still fall under that 2 plate rule if I keep my FL plates. I also don't plan on registering my car in Hawaii so would I fall under that recon rule as well being Florida registered?
Right now I have no word on when I will get there. I finish up my commission August of next year. I know that it is sort of far out from now but I like to get to know people and BS for a while prior to coming so that people get used to talking to me. I am also going there in march of next year for spring break and I would like to hook up with you guys to get to know you before I make the move. Meeting everyone would be pretty chill.

You can either get Hawaii plates or you gotta put a big ugly blue sticker on your car. I suggest HI plates.
Any car on this island regardless of where it's registered has to get recon if needed.

You'll never get recon with no cats and no drivers air bag. Your best bet is to just not get it and pray you don't attract a cops attention for something else. It's very rare that they pull you over just for that.

Does hawaii force you to pay yearly vehicle tax on your ride? This is the biggest reason why I wouldn't register it. In Florida you only have to pay for the yearly registration which is around $20 a year.
Thanks turborevdboy11.
