Default Oil Consumption Issue

Has anyone here with an 06 experienced oil consumption? My power train warranty is up in October, and I wanted to get my car checked to make sure nothing was wrong before it expires. I emailed one of the dealerships here, and received the response below:

HI, THIS GOES TO PEOPLE WHO DONT USUALLY SERVICE THEIR VEHICLE ON A REGULAR BASIS, THAT MAY CAUSE THE ENGINE TO CONSUME OIL. FOR THE VEHICLE THAT WAS COVERED IN PAST WE HAVE REQUIRED ALL SERVICE RECORDS RECIPTS OF OIL CHANGES. PRINTED RECIPTS. STILL NOT A GUARENTEE THOUGH. WE NEED TO HAVE A VEHICLE DIAGNOSED TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. DIAGBOSSIS RUNS ABOUT $106 WITH TAX.

Judging by the first sentence in his response, I think that this service manager is unfamiliar with the problem and may not be of much help. Is this what you others have experienced as well? I'm wondering if anyone could recommend a specific person at a specific dealership that would be more helpful. Thanks.

Thanks for the link, but I've already read through a lot of it. I did a search for the term "hawaii", but couldn't find anything. I'm looking for recommendations on specific service managers in Hawaii that may be more helpful with this issue than others.

Which dealership did you email? Call King Windward Nissan and talk to Jason (Tell him AJ referred you). He's the service manager there. He'll set you up with an appointment to check your car out...most likely they'll perform an oil change and they'll bring you back in for a review. If you're under warranty, they should be able to replace the block.

2006 Base MT here. As AJ stated-- go to King Windward. My 5 yr/60,000 warrenty ends next month. I started OC testing w/ them in April with 23K miles on the odo-- burning just over 8mm, so we ordered a new short-block per the (updated) TSB dated July 2010. The new SB arrived w/in 2 wks-- and I just have to drop the car off for a few days to swap. We also ordered a new driver's side window motor (under warranty): all i pay is a $50 deduc' for it all.

Troy's the tech at KingWindward-- smart guy, even offered to install headers/tp at no labor charge since we're swapping out the engine anyways.

Be sure to prove you've maintained the car well by providing all oil-change receipts. If you've been changing the oil on your own--- show receipts of buying/recycling oil?! If you have any engine/air mods, i'd suggest to take 'em off: exhaust should be fine.

Thanks for the recommendation guys! I purchased my car used, and luckily the previous owners had provided oil change receipts. I called Jason and set up an appointment for tomorrow. I can tell that King Windward's customer service is awesome just from the brief 10 minute phone call. I hope everything goes well, thanks again.

Yup, good luck-- also should mention that they'll give you a 1 yr ext' warranty on the new engine from date of install; so if you keep on buring; fix it w/in a year each time. I know of one other '06 burner on O'ahu-- who's on his 4th engine. I don't think he sweats though: w/ the warranty & just droppin' a quart in each 1000 miles or so.

This is my 1st swap: surgery starts later this month!

Oh-- and if you don't have a 2nd car: KingWindward will either comp' you a Sentra while you're Z33's in the shop, or rent you a car for $12/day.

Same Jason from Infiniti, or a different guy?

OP. I have an 06, and I've gone through 3 engines, dealing with oil consumption. What the dealership sent you is BS. The one in my hometown tried the same tactic on me. They've tried saying it was because of my aftermarket engine parts. They tried to say it was because I race, which I don't.... They even tried to blame it on the "quality of the fuel I use..." It took getting the BBB involved, to get the car fixed. Don't take this from them. They're just trying to avoid the situation.

And As AJ said, go to Windward Nissan. Good luck
