Default Is getting a DSL DigiCam really worth the extra money?

The 3 biggest things that attract me to the camera are:

1. Being able to take 2.5 frames per second
2. better quality pics( But are they that much better than a regular Digi pic to justify the price?)
3. The availability of lenses for the camera

I assume by dsl you mean digital still life. the whole digi cam term is really old school

1: nearly all mid priced camera can do this
2: its debatable, IMO not really, the camera wont make up for lack of skill-- there are many threads on this topic, do a search
3: the only cameras that have true changeable lens are dSLR. However most mid to upper priced PnS have great lenses and cover the all normal ranges and have rather low f-stop values.

I have many expensive dSLR cameras, and my best shots are from a 5MP canon A530 PnS. Mainly because its small size, allows me to have it on me, more then a large camera around my neck.

Dont fall for the MP count BS and dont think a expensive camera will make you picture look better then a mid priced PnS

$200-$350 budget I suggest looking at the mid-upper model Canon A-series cameras or the Panasonic DMC-TZ3. In the right hands I can assure you within normal reason there is no difference compared the a $800-1500 dSLR

I've played with all these cameras, and was very please. If you budget can go this high about $350 then I really like these.

Panasonic DMC-FZ8
Canon A640
Canon A710 IS

Damn, I just noticed the Panasonic DMC-FZ8 was going for less then $300 on amazon. I just bought it, I suggest you do the same

Its a PnS that looks and behaves similar to a dSLR, if you need something small then get a Canon A series camera
