Default what lense for D80?

so im about to buy a Nikon D80 camera body and I'm not sure which lense to purchase. I know this camera usually comes with the 18-135mm lense ($229.00), but I also saw a 18-55mm for only $119.00. what do you guys suggest? I'm wanting the lense to take close up wide pictures of my car.

both of them will give some wide angle capability. So I would go for something that is kind of do it all, the 18-135mm. Now for close up, how close do you want to get? If you want to do macro, you will need a lens for that.

Have a look at the 18-200mm Nikon VR lens. Expensive but worth it. I waited 14 months for my copy. It took so long that I bought a Sigma 18-200mm just to hold me over.

The vibration reduction in this lens is the best of any lens made today and allows you to handhold the lens another two to four stops longer than you would be otherwise.

Agreed on the 18-200

I have the 70-300VR and LOVE the VR it really makes life much easier in all shooting conditions. The 18-200VR is going to be my next glass investment.

If you wanna spend about...300-500$ for a REALLY nice lense combo..

Get the 55-200 VR NIKKON and the 18-70 3.5-4.5 Super Wide Angle

I am using this combo and its working VERY WELL. I would spring for the 17-55 2.8F but I cant swing 1300$ for a super wide angle right now...

VR=awesome and makes a HUGE difference in low light situations

If you can find the 55-200 VR you will have found a GREAT lense...I paid 380$ when the lense came out a while back and now they can be had for 250$ new

Great Lense and you wont be upset about it...I love My Nikon lenses and I always buy DX lenses with ED glass

good source...
