So which one should I dl? There's a bunch of them listed. Plus, is there a catch if I dl from here?
I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, but it might be better if you discussed it privately.

photography-on-the.net mainly Canon users
fredmiranda.com anyone
There's probably a Nikon forum. do a search and I'm sure you'll find one.
Okay, I think I'm ready to take the plunge. After researching the DSLR cameras in my price range, I decided to stick with the basic Rebel XT body. I've actually looked at many online comparisons between the XT and the d70s, and I think I actually prefer the canon image quality in comparison. Keep in mind that I am on a budget here, and mainly just need a basic kit that will get the job done until I'm ready to buy more lenses.
Canon is running a $100 rebate this month, and I'd like to have this setup before HIN in orlando as I think it will be good practice. If this setup is good, I plan on pulling the trigger tonight.
So, here's what I'm planning:
Canon Digital Rebel XT + 2gb card/accessory kit: $732.60 after rebate
http://www.digitalfotoclub.com/sc/pr...p?id=964597273
Accessory Kit includes: 2bg cf card, usb card reader, full camera bag, extra rechargable battery, tripod, lens cleaning kit, lcd screen projectors.
Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di-II LD Aspherical [IF] SP AF Zoom Lens: $449.00
http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.a...=TM1750XRDIEOS
This lens is new to the market and seems to have got great reviews. Relatively affordable for a 17-50mm f2.8 and supposedly takes some nice quality shots. Thanks to gr? for informing me of it.
Tiffen 67mm Photo Essentials Filter Kit: $78.85
http://www.digitalfotoclub.com/sc/pr...p?id=843548009
Comes with UV filter, circular polarizer, 812 warming filter, and case
Total is: $1259.60
I figure I'm coming out pretty well for what I'm getting. I plan on buying the vertical grip attachment next, and then looking for my next lens.
Let me know what you think, and please let me know if you know where I can get any of these components for less.

Here's my suggestion:
Purchase just the body; don't bother with any of the accessory kits. Purchase the memory card and back up battery seperate. The other items they give in the kits are worthless.
Lens is good
Filter kits is pretty good, though you will only use the CP and UV filter. I just sold my Tamron so I have no use for my 67mm filters. I have the same kit if you want to save some money. PM or email me for details.

Check your PM's.
Those pics were more or less on the fly. I was heading to a car meet when she called me up to do a quick photo shoot. We've been trying to get our schedules in sync for 2 months. The only problem was, it was ~ 6:30 and it was a 30 minute drive to her house so I had about 30 minutes worth of usable light. Because she lives ~ 10-15 miles from any worthwhile back drop, we had to do it in the back yard due to time constraints.
Honestly, I'm not much of a portrait person. I prefer cars since they don't talk back and they'll love every photo you take =)
Anyway, I didn't post the best pictures of the batch. This was probably the most typical portrait-style image (no smile, tight crop, better bokeh):

This is what I prefer to stick to:

The 240 was a junkyard project with front end damage. My co-worker wanted some shots before he finishes the rest of the project (SR20DET swap among other things). The car needs lowered, a front lip, bigger wheels, etc.
The Viper is a 93 RT/10 with a supercharger. He just got the car out of the body shop, also (front end damage at 130 mph). He hasn't dynoed it with the supercharger but with the nitrous, he put down 597 rwhp, 760 torq.
