i recently just picked up a camera and started taking pics.

im currently using a canon rebel xti and i have the lense that came with it and one other zoom.

i would love some comments, critisism and other ways to help me improve. thanks and enjoy

It looks like you have the right idea with alot of the pics. Just looks like you need better lighting in the first few shots. Other than that I say good job.

most photog's tend to by a 50mm f1.8 prime lens when first starting out.......its in every photog's collection.....

reason= low f-stop(you learn alot about depth of field using this lens among other things)
fast lens: hence the low f-stop
and its prob one of cheapest lenses you can by.

as for your photos, the biggest thing I can tell you is to learn the rule of thirds(google it).......basically your subject doesn't always have to be in the middle of the photo

well put it this way.....a wide angle lens will obviosly distort all your images.....its a very nice effect........but in my honest opinion if you are new and trying to learn photography get the 50mm, it is a must....


plus a cannon fish eye lens is about 900+ ......depending on f-stop

the 50mm which is a better lens....especially if your just starting out is a batgin at only about $100





edit: I was thinking of a fish eye lens, when I was talking about distortion.....but you still do get slight distortion with a wide angle lens.
