Default Lighting kit

Looking for a lighting kit. I have no idea what to look for, all I know is that I wish it was portable and don't want to spend a whole lot if possible. Any recommendation?

Okay did a bit of reseach. Wondering if this would work.

Looking at getting 2 of these.

Now how can I make this work out in a field? Would a DC to AC converter that plugs into my vehicle work?

I'll comment more on this later, when I get back from work.

Basically, if you want portable, check out STROBIST. This link has the basic stuff you will be needing.

Oh, and another thing... CHEAP and ARTIFICIAL LIGHTING don't mix. On the low side, you're looking $500. Just yesterday, I tried radio off camera flash, and by god, it takes stuff to a new level.

It depends on how much juice you'll need. I use 3 Canon speedlites for portability. I use Alien Bee B800s when I'm not outside.

If you want a portable power supply, this is probably the best bang for the buck:

portable with no plug required either. Ok you need some sun to use it, but it does wonders willing in harsh shadows. Or you can pay more for one made by wescott of something.

If you already have a external flash, go with a wireless or ir set up with mini stands.

I myself am using 3 of these
