idk, i'm not really a big fan of Canon. They are great cameras but i just don't like the way they fit in my hands...not comfortable..

 

i may sell my d70 body along with 2 1 gig sandisk CF cards, 2 batteries (that last an extremly long time) all softare etc... basically everything you would get with the kit MINUS the lens for about $300

im looking for a cheap one as well for a beginner so i can practice before i dive into the pricey stuff.
D40 looks good at under 500 dollars, my friend has one and it is a great camera for a beginner. takes pictures very well.

 

i use to want a D40... but i can't seem to meet anyone who has one...

so i have yet to ever shoot on it. But i am still considering it .

 

D40 is a nice beginner camera.

I would stay away from D40, D40X and D60. They're cheap for a reason.
Google D40 + autofocus. I'd rather get a used D70S.
