Flurescent and UV Filter, Tripod, spare battery, external flash and collapsable lens hood. Too poor for lenses.

The sunscreen and bug spray are a great idea, I need to stuff some in with my camera gear. They probably won't care that I'm not a Nikon user either.

Picked up a D90 a couple weeks ago as my first DSLR camera. My bag (backpack) is weak --- spare battery, UV filter (well, on the camera), cleaning cloth, remote, and extra SD card.

I hate to be a HUGE noob but a 600VR lens doesn't have a range like an 80-200mm right? How does shooting differ on a fixed lens?
