Default Picked up a 100 f/2.8 macro

No cool bug shots like Erwin.

Makes an awesome portrait lens. This is now my primary go-to portrait lens, followed by the 70-200 2.8L IS.

Tack sharp (as are most macros). Check it:

^^^small jpeg straight outta the camera, no processing whatsoever.

You didn't want to get the new 100mm L macro IS?

True enough where you aint got bug shots, but I don't have cool watch or hot chick shots.

BTW, did you ever get that 85 1.8? I got mine a couple months ago, and all I can say is DAMN!!!!!!

Picked this lens up on Craigslist for a good deal. It's received really good reviews, anyway. Besides, I'm saving up for ABs!

I've had the 85 1.8 for well over a year now - awesome lens. Used to be my go-to portrait lens until I picked this macro up.

What macro doesn't get good reviews?

I'm jealous though, as the 100mm will allow more distance between lens and subject. Those bee shots I did, I swear the front element was only 3inches or less away from the bee. You will need steady hands though.

Stepping up to the big boy light setups eh?

I'd rather go with the 1.8 for portraits, the macro only goes to f/2.8.

Lets see what you can do with those AB's.

The minimum focusing distance is 12", though. So I don't have to get as close, but sometimes still I find myself wanting to get closer. I'm never going to get into stacking, though. Way outta my league.

Even when I use my 85, I don't shoot at 1.8 - usually 2.2-2.4. And the bokeh on the macro at 2.8 is comparable enough for me.

ABs won't be here for a while. I don't want to order them until I an order everything at once.

You mean tubes? I've been meaning to pick a set.

Well, I like to blur the BG as much as possible... like portraits... but only I have a car and not a hot chick

I got this and I was convinced...

I use the 85 for cars, still. But the 100 for portraits.

Tubes? I know what tubes are, but what about them?

Yeah, tubes if you want to get closer, more than 1:1. I believe Kenko makes a set.

I see features of people using them on the nifty/thrifty fifty all the time, and always wondered if they would work on a 1:1 macro.

Yah, but I'm too lazy to stack to get the results I want. As cool as macro is, I'm not that into to it.
