Default paint job contest!

ok, not really a full fledged contest, cause ya don't win nothing. possibly just the fact though of having your design painted on another Z. i have the car sanded down and i will be basically ready to start spraying after today.
the car will have the greddy spoiler, nismo rear wing, and a c-west style hood. i have 3 different ideas in mind. one, stock db on the bottom of the car with the hood, roof, and hatch a satin black with satin black wheel centers. second, stock db on the bottom with white on the hood, top and hatch and wheel centers. each will probably have a thin silver stripe at the parting line.
third is a crazy one i have wanted to do for years but it would require jambing the car (which i hate doing) but it is nearly the same color as the stock db, but it is a base used to make the ppg chameleon color. with the main color being that base, 2 of the colors it changes will be exactly the same color as 2 of the 7 colors the chameleon color changes. 4 different flame templates that you spray through to make a soft edge flame job, then as you walk around the car flames will change color and COMPLETELY disappear! don't expect anyone to try to p-shop that one, lol.

anyways, i have the skill to do anything under the sun, but i love the stock db colorand don't want to jamb the car. any ideas??

here is a pic to work from. i'm looking for something that not only looks good in a pic, but that will be jaw dropping in person. open to any two-tone color combo, as long as the bottom is blue, lol. btw, headlights are now blacked out also, but i'm sure i could trade someone stock ones if they fit the paint job better.

well for one, it's pretty damn silly to request a photoshop of your car that changes the color of the hood, roof and hatch and then post a picture that barely shows your hood, roof and hatch. Think about it.

thought that would actually make it easier for someone to tell ya the truth. i saw some of the other work you guys do, and thought it would be a snap for ya. this is also the angle of the car i would like to view the combo from. this is a view most will see the car while driving by too.

I'm just saying you aren't going to see a whole lot of difference. If you had a picture shot from a higher point you could get a better idea.

As for the flames, if you have a picture of a car at a similiar angle with similiar flames so I can get an idea of what style you are wanting, I can possibly do that.

unfortuneately, i don't have a pic from from a down side view. the flame job is something i have never seen anyone do before, thus a sample pic would be impossible, plus the flame images would appear to disappear and reappear independantly. i am not even sure what it would look like in a still pic, lol. thanks anyways.

i know pretty much exactly what all the paint combos i mentioned earlier would look like. the main goal i was shooting for was to get peoples ideas on different color combos other than what i was originally thinking or different patterns. i can paint whatever i want on the car and do a full color change if someone has a cool idea i may have overlooked for a paint scheme.

I can work with that picture... but I prefer not to do the "creative" bit. If you know what colors you want then I have no problem doing it, but I don't do them if you just are looking for different ideas.

If you know what you want then post it Otherwise I'll let some of the more creative people do the "creative" thing though.

Good luck!

Edit: Maybe create a different post under a different category and ask people to suggest paint themes? If anything sounds appealing come back and post and we'll def. do the chop!

i didn't realize just how easy these cars are to pull apart, meaning i can pretty easily do a full color change or whatever i can figure out. the car was nearly perfect to start with, so only door dings and rock chips need repairs. i am heavily leaning towards the flame job, and will be picking up some test paint to do a couple swatches to make sure it does what i think it will do.
maybe posting in the general section and putting the car back together in primer and taking pics that can be chopped would be the best. thanks for the heads up.

the photo you already posted is a good one for a flame job, I just don't know what type you want (real flames, hot rod flames, etc). If you have a better way to describe it, post up.

if you know what the ppg chameleon paint is, i can try to explain better. the chameleon is a paint that has prisms in the paint. as you walk around the car or see it drive by, it will change 7 different colors. the chameleon paint is made with a base color that will change 2 different colors. 2 of the colors will match exactly in both paints. so to make the flames you make templates and hold them about 1/2" off the car and mist through it. it will create a soft edge on the flame. you make 3-4 different flame templates and layer them. i will toss in some candy and pure pearl ones for depth also. with a soft edge on the flames, they should disappear completely and independantly as you walk around the car or see it drive by. the effect should be a constantly moving appearance to the flames. not to say it hasn't been done, but i just have not seen it anywhere.
i have painted the template/layered design before with pearls and candies in graphics before on another one of my cars and the effect of it is pretty awesome. havn't tried it yet with the $80 an ounce!! chameleon paint yet though.

I know what chameleon paint is. I was asking about the style of the flames, like a hot rod style, or true flames.

the finished effects are alot more like the true flames that are airbrushed. you just have a few different templates to spray through and overlap and mix around the colors and templates. it will have approx. 400+ individual flames and engulf half of the car, flames are only about 5-6" in length each. i would not expect anyone to try and replicate that in phototshop unless i was paying them, lol. i will be picking up some paint today and will prolly spray out some tests this weekend though and maybe someone could copy and duplicate that though from a pic. thanks

i can only explain the effect like i did in posts above. it really is more of an effect than it is a design. mixed in with the harlequin flames will be silver pearl flames and blue candy flames. all of them will be transparent (especially the candy blue) so the layering of them and the different colors the pearl and harlequin will turn depending on the viewing angle are a mystery to me, hahhaa. meaning, if a harlequin flame is partially under a blue candy flame, and the harlequin goes to red, the effect through the blue will be purple in that one area yet different 2 feet away where the harlequin appears copper and makes the blue look whatever color those 2 combined make, lol. the effect will be flames CONSTANTLY changing color or completely disappearing as you see the car driving by or walking around it making them appear to be moving. it actually took me about an hour worth of explaining to the counter people at my paint supplier for them to figure out what i was trying to do and understand the effect i was going for.
