6 months ago with the same design and they still can't figure out how to finalize it and sell it?
sounds like they're just tweaking things

so lets say it does get 18 hp at high rpm. no gains at low-mid range, so what would be your best set up as far as plenums are conserned?

Cosworth
SFR
plenum spacer plus lower mrev2
??????????????????????

That still seems a bit pricey for an intake manifold, especially for one that supposedly is only superior at upper revs/top end power. I'm still interested and anxious to see how it performs with FI applications.

If they insist on pricing it at $1200-$1500, Cosworth should definitely include the carbon fiber end caps/plates and the rest of it should come offered in either a powdercoat finish or polished to a nice show quality shine. I think that either would look kick *** and help justify the high price. Just my .

Can you and Sharif suggest that to Cosworth? I know it's probably wishful thinking at this point, but .

If your willing to fork over the money, I would go with the SFR manifold easily. This is something for the high hp cars though.

We already know that the final version will have the CF endcaps. Other than that, I'm guessing what you see is what you will get. They are too far into production (well I hope they are into production at this point) to change anything with the plenum.

hm still not done yet huh? subscribing. I wonder what the reasoning is for a complete redesign. I'm sure someone wil chime in to explain why the design is the way it is.

It wasnt making the power. Actually it was losing power, plus it wouldnt clear the factory hood.

oh sorry not what i meant..

I meant what was their thought process behind completely redesigning the intake manifold from the stock one. i.e. what's the science behind this feed-in design for an intake manifold as opposed to the factory (all increase in sizes aside)

This is a very complicated question to answer.... if you really want to know the answer you're going to need to know some serious math, etc. The question was pretty much answered earlier in the thread, and if you read some of the stuff posted here:

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&highlight=phd

about half way down the page, you will find it's very complicated and math intensive. The documents posted are a good start to understanding this... it's not easy stuff. Specifically look at what Q45tech says.

thanks, that was what was looking for.

I was curious as to the design and the why.

At least the plenum is still angled to somewhat equalize runner velocities.

He's saying it's sad that this is what has become of the much hyped plenum that is yet to show itself, I assume.
