i dunno....
this board is funny like that. plus Tim has only made a handful of these i think. The entry price without some documentation probably stops some, But people jumped on the blingin' kinetix, ... so .... ?

Some independent dyno testing of NA and FI cars would be great!

The flow diagrams that Cosworth showed me, clearly show a decrease in airflow to the front cylinders on the stock manifold. The Cosworth improves the distribution, but there is still less air to the front cylinders. Regardless of plenum design, it is virtually impossible to design a realistic plenum that delivers perfect distribution to all cylinders. Optimizing is the best one can hope for. And with sufficient collector volume, its not an issue. An engine does not operate on a flow bench...ie...air will travel to the path of least resistence, which happens to be an open valve.

Most high end engine management systems, and even some lower end models, allow for individual cylinder trims. We always add additional fuel to rear cylinders, just to be safe.

Would it be hard to swap to a cabled TB and discard the DBW entierly? Then we could run as big a TB as we wanted too...

The Kinetix SSV has longer runners, but we all know that got them nowhere.

Besides, turbocharged Z's aren't hurting for low end power, it's carrying it out to redline thats the hard part.

We actually came up with our final design (third revision) and have sold it to a few beta testers. Unfortunately, people who have bought the plenum have their fricken cars in pieces or not finished yet! Arggggg!

That hasnt stopped us though A few weeks ago we put it on a rev-up G35 with a brand new motor, clutch, turbos, etc...... and dynoed it to the tune of +50 ft/lbs of torque at the wheels, at 4000 rpms. We only revved the car out to 4500 rpms and we only ran it at 7.8 psi of boost, since the motor had no miles on it (and we wanted to break it in easily). Both banks had AFRs that were within 1% of each other. We didnt measure eGT's but we will when the car is broken in and we crak upthe boost to 15-16 psi. What I noticed was the effect on spool-upthe plenum had. Outrageous! Much faster then my car and I have 10.3 to 1 compression vs. the built car which has 8.6 to 1 compression. Both cars have the same size 60-1 turbos. We will be finishing our dyno testing on this twin turbo car in about two weeks. We also have a N/A test car that we will put the plenum on very soon.

Finally, sorry for lagging on the project guys. R&D takes time and we wanted to get it right. We werent too concerned about rushing it to the market without fully testing it and determining the optimum runner length and plenum volume. We have that nailed and now it is time to see what that translates too as far as horsepower is concerned

The Cosworth doesn't look all that different from the stock plenum design in terms air entry. I'm sure overall volume will play a factor as well but I don't think it will be all that much different than current plenums offered...but we'll see as Sharif said.

On the other hand..the one that Tuarran posted seems much more efficient as their is separate piping for each of the 3 cylinders whereas the Cosworth will be distributing to all 6 cylinders through one pipe at the top....still potentially lacking air flow to the 5th and 6th cylinders. I know there is much more involved than simply the design as I see it.....but I'm just speculating more than anything

What's going on Richie, all is well I hope?

Most likely .. yes

We have a local guy that told me that he could get me a good deal on a Motec .. but I'm still looking around ... And Simon .. I guess is the best, hands down

Any thoughts?

if you are n/a running a utec and you raised the rpm limit to 82000..thats pretty dangerous... from 6800 maybe to 7200....

Very easy to do, as long as you have a standalone engine management, such as the FCON VPro, AEM, Motec, etc..etc.

But I want to thoroughly research the actual bottleneck. The throttle body is one piece of the equation.

Thumbs up

I know routing the throttle body and piping up front would be a problem, but I'd like to be able to bypass the turbo mounted area on the single turbo kit altogether. It should also flow much better than wrapping around back.
+1 the TS plenums are al pretty nice. It would be very nice if a company came out with a diff tb location. AAM/CJ/Cosworth, someone do it!!. I think when CJ was originally designing you would be able to choose???? either way +1 for us ST guys!!!! After seeing the gtk 240 that is all I can think about

Front feed plenums require a lot of fabrication, and customized work. It will never be a bolt on affair, IMHO. It's a terrific design though.
