Craig, how about giving us a little tidbit of info to tide us over until the final dyno.

As far as I know he's still breaking in the new motor, no boost.

I eased into about 2psi in 4th gear last night and it just dipped into 9's and felt like it about died. The BoV made a sat fluttery noise. lol

god it would kill me to have boost and not be able to touch it...........

shops should offer a break in for new built cars...shop worker breaks in the car for the driver so when they come pick it up....dyno and happy days at boost. just and idea ya know

We currently do this. I wouldnt let a customer drive a car at all..until its completely broken in and tuned. Then when they leave, they can drive it like they stole it. Sometimes the temptation to boost is just too great. Of course, Taurran has good self-control, so that shouldnt be an issue.

And if he is in fact running a 9.0:1 A/F ratio, he most likely will wash down the cylinder walls in no time. And thats bad..

I've been driving around all day under 3k rpms. The car has almost 600 miles right now of driving like an old lady. It's DEFNITELY not running 9:1 AFR's while cruising, I'd have to make a few psi of boost for that to happen. Right now I'm currently cruising around at 14-15:1 at partial throttle.

I slowly eased it into 1-2psi of boost at about 550 miles and it went rich so I just backed off and kept driving normal. Trust me, it's fine.

And, while it sucks, I know that I have infinitely more time to break in the car properly than the shop does. 800-1000 miles is more than enough to do it right. How many miles do you normally run it to do a dyno break in?

Taurran - Congrats, and welcome back. I'm sure it's going to put down some nasty power come Sunday. Please make sure to post up the results.

JT et al engine builders - I "thought" that engine break in, especially considering break in via dyno, was best done over varied power levels and that the slow and easy less than 3k rpm wasn't exactly ideal. This subject has been asked and addressed, but nobody has actually confirmed what engine break in procedures for road and dyno they preferred. Everybody's hinted, but I have yet to see a "here's what I do" post about this. Is this some sort of holy grail secret in engine building? I honestly didn't think so...

EDIT - before anyone starts with the trash talk: YES, I searched and NO there isn't any info on BUILT engine break in by any of the engine builders on this forum.
