Sorry I haven't given an update yet, folks. The car was scheduled to hit the dyno today, but didn't make it for a few reasons... I actually kind of expected it not to make it.
I dropped the car off at the shop on Friday for some last minute work and hopefully the tune, but it's still being worked on at the moment. Apparently there were some other cars in the way and they had to move them out to start finishing up mine.
I had this weird diesel-sounding vibration that was coming from the motor since it was first running. It was happing mainly at low rpms, but could still be heard at higher RPMS. My best explanation of it is the metallic "rattle" that you hear from some deisel truck motors, or the sound of a pipe tapping against something. At first I thought it was one of the new pipes contacting something in the engine bay. It wasnt a major problem so we ended up taking doing the break in.
Jeremy and I talked about it this past week and from what I could tell it was coming from the drivers side head area. He said at the time he thought it was an issue with a timing chain tensionser, which sounded reasonable to me. They checked it out today and it was, in fact, a bad secondary timing chain tensioner. No damage to the motor, just annoying to hear. It's going to be replaced along with some of the other last minute changes before it gets tuned and everything will be running smoothly. What's interesting is I've talked to some other owners from various areas and shops that had this same issue on their car, and it was regarded as odd but "normal". I wasn't going to settle for driving around with the clatter and I'm glad Jeremy took the time to investigate it.
I'm also waiting on a few other small adjustments to part of the exhaust system and an intercooler bracket (which was causing the hood to look off). Also, I'm hoping to get some black Samco hoses installed to replace the red ones which I decided I didn't like.
I'll leave any further updates to Jeremy, as I don't know what the timeline is looking like at the moment. I'd rather get all the final touches done perfectly than to rush anything. In the end, I plan to be driving it fully tuned next weekend.

yes solid motor mounts, the noise is apparent in a few cars that i have heard from many different shops, kinda like a deisel truck sound. we knew it was coming right from the driver side valve cover so we took a look at it.
rechecked all the valve lash, this time hot and cold, PERFECT..
hmm... nothing was wearing abnormal at all?? then AJ saw that the tensioner on the secondary chain was actually not sprung out at all, hell we couldnt even pry it out, it was stuck for sure. we yanked out the cams, cam holders, cam gears, and everything. all will be replaced with new things and check the oil passages to the secondary chain tensioner.
wont be too long, the car is running perfectly besides that. only issue is the new intercooler we used mounts in the same place as the greddy but doesnt allow the hood latch to move up and down to the fullest extent. easy fix
thanks everyone. big numbers this week!!
