Forged Performance: Our first JWT 700bb with FCON we like!...
Finally had the opportunity to do the JWT 700bb TT kit, with the typical assortment of Forged goodies. AFitchTLS dropped his car off last month, during our Open House, and gave us a deadline of completing the job prior to ZDAYZ, which was 4 weeks away. Honeslty, I didnt realize he needed a FIRM deadline, until about 2 weeks into the project.
His #1 priority was having his car back before ZDAYZ, which gave us about 3 1/2 weeks to complete a major overhaul of his car.
Forged Stage II Shortblock
JWT 700bb Twin Turbo Kit
JWT S7 Cams
FCON and accessories
Carbonetics Triple Disc
CJM Return Fuel System
1000cc injectors, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
Talk about stress!!
Fast forward 3.5 weeks, and we literally have 3 days to completely build his engine, install the TT kit, all his accessories, and break-in/tune that car. Fortunately, the whole Forged team pulled together, and met his deadline for ZDAYZ.
Now normally, we keep our customer's cars for at least 3-4 days once completed, to sort out any minor issues and such, that can only be uncovered during normal day to day driving. We didnt have this luxury of time, and I was REALLY REALLY nervous about handing over the keys, and having Jason drive 400+miles back to Florida, and then another 500 miles to ZDAYZ, and then another 500 miles back home.
According to Jason, the car ran flawlessly, and I was happy we met his timeline, and he was able to carve the twisties at the Tail of the Dragon with the rest of his buddies. He put about 1600 miles on his new setup in just 4 days.
The 700bb kit really impressed me, both in terms of power/airflow production, solid engineering of the kit. Final numbers on low boost were 418whp@9psi and 499@13psi. As mentioned previously, we only post numbers with "Shootout" mode enabled. This locks out all user definable setup parameters, so the numbers cannot be disputed. When SOM numbers are posted, you can take a look at the table on the dyno chart, whicih shows the temp and pressure variables used to compute STD atmospheric correction, and also the ramp rate assigned. We usually see about 10-13% higher numbers on a dynojet, but we always post the true DD numbers.

How much for the 700bb upgrade?
My 06 JWT TT and everybody else I talk to with 06 JWT TT has a small spuddering problem when boosting at or under 3000 rpm due to VVT. Have you seen this and does FCON or Utec fix it?

Hmm....we havent seen any sputtering with the FCON, and I doubt you would see it with the UTEC. Maybe there is something in the split second box included with the regular kit, that is causing that issue.
I will check with JWT, to see if there is any easy upgrade to the 700bb's. I know that others have done the upgrade from the basic kit, but I will confirm what parts are needed.
The kit we installed on Jason's car was the complete 7000bb kit, which is $7000 and is a tuner kit, so no fuel solution, or engine control system.
We can display trq with the new software, but its a temporary work-around. We have to make runs in regular mode, rather than shoot-out...then switch to shoot-out mode, and pull up the trq graphs. It's a bit confusing but it works. Trq on this car was nearly spot on with power....good shape, and doesnt dive off like the smaller JWT TT tends to do at higher boost.

I have a feeling the Eagle rods can take well over 100whp per rod, but until more people start testing them at those power levels on the VQ35, a little insurance with Pauter is a prudent course.
I am waiting to get some new HG along with new cams and such installed. I plan on pushing this motor till it can't be pushed any more. Going to for spring pressure 14.5 psi pump gas, 16-17 psi pump gas, and maybe as much as 20 psi on race gas, we will have to see how it plays out - this will be on my standard arias pistons and eagle rods. I don't know about the pistons, but I doubt the eagle rods will be the weak link.
~500 whp at 13 psi are great numbers. 4 wks is a short turn around for such a complex build....nice work!
