Just to clarify my earlier post because I'm not sure if I was clear, the second set of heads from IPP kick *** and there was nothing wrong with them (as the dyno charts reflect).

The shop here in MI that installed the second set of heads, HG's, and L19's did not install them correctly which caused HG failure in multiple places and some distortion of the heads (I believe from inconsistent torquing of the studs and lack of molylube, and other things).

Anyway, these heads are going strong after being redecked and reinstalled.

I will clear up a few things

Just to clear this up. The first set of heads had a hairline crack in the water jacket that passed a pressure test when machined but showed up after several heat cycles. Shawn contacted me and I promptly replaced the heads with another set and paid next day shipping BOTH ways to speed up his down time. When Shawn says "and this second set" he is not talking about the actual heads I sent him but the improper installation by the shop that was working on his car.

The heads have standard valves BUT they were "race" ported and the combustion cambers were done to match his sleeved block

Shawn I am glad you finally took it to Sharif to let him put his magical touch on it and get it done right.

What exactly does "race" ported mean and can it only be done when paired with a sleeved block?

The intake and exhaust ports were done pretty aggressively. This can also be done on a non sleeved block but normally people with non sleeved blocks don't put the limits as hard.

I'm so glad I didn't end up going with that "other" shop for my build.

Basically Shawn's heads are like my Stage 2 heads but with some additional work.

http://www.importpartspro.com/st2heon.html

If I know they are going on a sleeved block or are going to be pushed the price wouldn't really change but I would want to know that upfront.

So the valves are still OEM Nissan valves?

Thanks for the info. What if I sent my heads that already had JWt cams/valvetrain to be freshened up and have the valve job and port work done?

$1500 for the machine work if you provide the Cams and springs

Great work guys... I can't wait to get that power back on mine. Makes you think a bit more before applying that right foot too agressively.

"1 setep at a time"

first get the power to what you had, then try for more

700whp on our dyno sounds about right....probably 770whp+ on a DynoJet. That should be relatively easy with his setup.
