The kits are working out great, as I've told some people via PM we have placed our order of kits for stocking purposes, and expect to have them in towards the end of this month. Pricing has not been set yet, as PowerLab is still working out some of their pricing schedules and doing some last-minute things to eliminate parts and pieces from the kit that aren't needed.

So here's some good news for everyone They have a budget minded stage 1 turbo system that will still produce a ton of power! We asked for the most cost-efficient (while maintaining ultimate power and reliablity) kit possible. So they sent us a turbo kit using a non ball-bearing (Still 360 Degree Journal Bearing) T3/T61 aka "Blowzilla" which also eliminates the need for water lines, and ultimately saves quite a bit for the end user as well. It still uses the overly large Tial 44mm Wastegate, 2.5'' Up-Pipe, 3'' Downpipe and 4'' thick intercooler core. All in all based on our previous testing this same non-bb kit will produce just as much as the Stage 1 GT35R..

We're going to be taking pictures of everything within the next day or so, the quality is unbelieveable, everything came high polished, attention to detail is a huge factor, and the most important part is that these kits are making insane power!

Here's a couple of quick examples of the "attention to detail" I noted before.
  • First and Foremost, PowerLab included brand new OEM Quality Replacement High and Low Pressure Side A/C Lines (Not just a single lengthened hose.) They machined billet pieces for the compressor, with o-ring grooves, including valves for charging the system. Also where the line goes into the firewall & condenser there are quick disconnect fittings. (So theres no hacking, or modifying your stock lines, in case you ever needed to go back to stock or whatever the case is, you can just hang on to your factory lines).
  • A billet oil pan spacer, and pick-up spacer are included in the kit as well. So then again, there's no modification needed to the factory block, you gain oil capacity and you have an additional port to monitor oil temperature!
  • Plug and Play Injector sizes are available up to 800cc's!
  • Pre-Plugged additional O2 Bung in the Downpipe, as well as capped NPT Port in the charge pipe allow for the simplicity of installing a wideband, and or sensors.
  • Wastegate location is literally seconds within removal, atmospheric dump can be easily accomplished w/o blackening your engine bay & or filling your cabin with fumes! Hooking up a Boost controller is almost effortless.
  • Ability to maintain the Factory Crash Bar w/ a 24x12x4 Intercooler Core

I'm sure we could go on, however we'll save the rest for the official release of the Turbo system which should be very near now

Well that's definitely a good goal, and most importantly not unrealistic.. The biggest thing I want to stress, is that this is an extremely high end kit, it's not hacked together, and you won't have issues with it later on w/o support. The instruction manual is extremely detailed and in depth, and the people that made the kit are just like the average consumer, they want the luxuries (I.E. A/C, 3'' downpipe etc etc.) . However they want the 1000hp tag to boast as well...

Blowzilla? Looks like a garret designed in the 80s. Please tell me it isnt the same?

What about using a Borg Warner turbo?

i wouldnt worry about it, its just an option as far as the turbo to try to trim down the costs for the ones that are mostly on the "low budget end"(in a perfect world you wouldnt find those). Plus "old" turbos arent necesarly bad, i think we all know, as an example, how the "ancient" turbos of the greddy TT kits perform
You know the kit itself as stage1 verson uses a gt35r and is capable of 650whp.
I think the main thing to highlight here is that powerlab has the ability to provide customers with different options to meet their needs . Ill be checking some of the newer turbos by precision.

I wouldn't be to worried about this. I think that the ability to upgrade later is a great feature and having a cheaper old turbo is an excellent option. 75% of the people out there will be happy with the performance that the cheaper turbo will offer but will still have the option for big power down the road.

Upgrade-ability is the key!! Most Turbo systems are somewhat limited, but this one almost seems limitless...so far with 3 stages. Who knows what else is in store.

Greddy 18G upgrade to 20G's (only option) $2500 thru SGP
APS upgrade to Extreme $_____
Turbonetics to T66 (only option to my knowledge) $______
JWT TT upgrade to 700 or 850 series Turbos but at a HUGE cost$$$$$3K

Superchargers limited only by pulley options. $______
I think thats about it.

I need a price on the cheapest kit. This may be my only chance for FI since Im broke, well not really but still. Hurry!!!

So let me get this straight, IF I purchased the base kit, I can still make over 400whp/ft lbs tq, and then if I ever decide to upgrade, all I have to do is purchase a bigger, better turbo........and of course upgrade internals blah, blah the usual and make and insane amount of horsepower????

It looks like, or it is? Because turbo's have looked alot a alike since the conception of the original design.

Actually it's a hybrid turbocharger that was designed by one of extremely few Authorized Garrett Distributors. Using a compact E compressor housing, modern 61mm Compressor Wheel (w/ a Billet Machined Nut), a non ball bearing center cartridge, 360 degree journal bearing and a P-Trim Turbine wheel. The term blowzilla is the original name for it and what we call it, however if you've purchased a T3/T61 or a T3/T67, T3/T04R etc.. They are all basically the same turbo however re-named. So there is nothing 80s about this turbo, it's just not heavily supported and known because it doesent have a part number in the garrett catalog

.. Actually I take some of that back, the name Blowzilla, is definitely 80s lol!

The results that we've seen from the turbo is amazing... for the price, and having a T3 Footprint you'll be very hard-pressed to find a turbo that will outperform it.

We have used Borg Warner turbos, including the extended tip wheels, which are good and all, but we've never seen the results that they claim from them.

Say you bought the non-ball bearing kit, and you wanted a GT37R.. Here's what you would need..

GT37R Ball Bearing Turbo (Proven 700WHP Capability)
GT 3'' First Downpipe (Proven 700+WHP Capability)
and Turbo Water Lines

The First downpipe would bolt right up to your second downpipe without modification, and I'd say you'd spend a whole 2-3 hours maximum swapping your old turbo out with the new one. And connecting your water lines.
