Still making around 520-540 whp at 15-16 psi (DJ STD). I have added 50/50 W/M injection running an aquamist HFS-6 system, but have not tuned for it. I ran into fuel supply issues on the dyno but have since acquired, but again not installed, a CJM stage 2 kit. I added a Ken Bell boost-a-pump (because it was in the car wired as a boost-a-spark, doing nothing) and that is doing the trick for fuel it seems. So I need to go back to finish the W/M tune, but still debating first installing the stage 2 kit sitting in my garage (larger hard pipe).

I am now running a Motordyne TDX 3" full exhaust but not sure about power gains over the original TDX setup I had before since I changed to a Cosworth plenum at the same time (lost a little midrange, picked up top end).

Considering switching back to 3.3 gears and Quaife vs my carbonetics because of the frequent fluid changes required for the latter unit. Considering ProEFI 128.

That's about it as far as a status update... Transmission is holding up just fine (knock on wood). Crisp, fast shifts - very fun under boost.

I don't like working on the car during the summer because it's my daily driver in good weather so the few mods and retune on dyno I have planned might wait till winter.

Thanks for the update and good luck
I guess I have to see to the end of the summer what my engine can make

Always great to hear them running strong long after they've left our shop. I am actually tuning ChadV's car on the dyno as we speak. This is a G35 that we did a big engine build TT setup back in early 2007. The car has changed hands 3 times, but still ticking perfectly. Chad went with bigger 850bb turbos, large FMIC, twin pumps, and cams.

Thanks Sharif - the car has held up great (again, knock on wood). If I do go with the ProEFI 128 this winter, I may end up moving towards E85, twin pumps, and 850bb turbos. I'm trying to get my money's worth out of the 700bb then look to upgrade. 600 whp on E85 would be great in my 5AT. I think it would be very competitive with the other street setups at the airstrip

What kind of injectors would be needed for 600whp on E85 ?? would 800cc make it or would I need to use my 1000cc HKS ?? as I guess 1000cc won't get me anywhere close to 1000 whp on my other engine :|

800cc won't even touch 600cc on e85. He just said he ran out of fuel at 530hp on 1000cc injectors and that is regular pump.

raj, i've been weighing the proefi a lot lately too. I love the haltech but that map switching automatically for e85 is great for me since long trips home from stl i might not have access to e85. The only problem is the stupid sensor is 500$ on top of the ems cost. gm is ripping people off with that sensor.

other than that i'm not finding benefits for the proefi right now with my setup.

Well it is not because the injectors he have problems, or at least he doesn't say so, I would think it is the fuel pump. But you are probably right that I won't touch 600whp on 800cc, so if I decide for E85 then 1000cc it is.
So what is the biggest benefit of E85 over meth/water ?? I know it is about 104 octane but you need up to 30% more of it as well.

OCTANE RULES! Yes, I ran out of pump, not injector. To reach 600 whp on E85 with dual pumps and 1000 cc injectors might take a little coaxing. I do have up to 20 volts of steady state voltage I can feed one of the pumps. I would trigger the 2nd one to come on after 10 psi or thereabouts and feed it a higher voltage rail with my boost a pump. I think I could reach 600 whp with e85 and still have a margin if I also bump up pressure a bit and bump voltage to support flow at that pressure.

The main benefit of the ProEFI really is the availability of numerous failsafes that can trigger actions (primary and secondary) to save the motor. Fuel pressure runs low? Cut boost and institute a fuel cut rev limiter - motor saved. No worries.

I have been "encouraging" Haltech to release their long awaited I/O box, which would provide 16 ins/outs along with associated maps but no word after over 2 yrs communicating with them on this topic. The final straw came when IP become a certified ProEFI dealer and are now in process of thoroughly testing the platform. Hal has gone above and beyond for me in terms of customer service. If he gives the green signal, I will jump ship... If he can get Haltech to produce similar functionality, then I will stick with it.

for the e85 side....

after seeing what stylinz's car on e85 does vs mine on 110leaded......E85 is the only way to fly....you can run timing like you are on C16 (due to the extra fuel), and VQ's LOVE timing.

~$2.50/gal (translate that to $3.25/gal for the extra amount you need to run) for E85 vs, what $12.50+/gallon for C16!!!!!!!

That sure sounds great to me, but I guess I won't need that for my 600rwhp ?? or should I do that ?? I'm also concerned about not having enough E85 around here in CA, would love if it was like home in Sweden where you can get E85 everywhere. But maybe for the new engine build that I'm planing this would be the way to go, but it sounds like I should go with PROEFI then and not one more Haltech ??

Whats the price difference on the Haltech and the PROEFI ?? and how much bgger injectors would be needed for 1000whp on E85 ?? or will 100% meth injection do just as well ??

Well this is kinda going off topic, but...

I would recommend contacting Larry at Sound Performance (for ProEFI) or Hal at Injected Performance (for Haltech) if you want to discuss final dollars and cents - IP is actually now a dealer for both units so maybe just talk to Hal as he is testing in house. The ProEFI 128 unit I think will run around $4k with all the goodies to include auto E85 sensing and the Haltech will run around $2500 with widebands but no automatic E85 capability.

If you want 1000 whp on E85, get 2000 cc injector dynamic injectors and be done with it. Mike (XKR) should be testing them shortly down at Forged Performance.

Thanks man, and sorry for taking it off topic, I will look in to all that.

Great build you have BTW, hope to have mine anywhere close to yours, well as a 350z that is

I have one public station located about 15 mins from where I live. I guess that's not so bad. Not as convenient as pump gas and meth, that's for sure.

600whp DD would be hard on e85 and 1000cc injectors. We were hoping for just shy of that and maybe touch 600 on e85 with my setup. The dual pump won't be the issue at all so no need to increase voltages or anything like that. plus i run dual pumps all the time, no extra wiring to worry about. The 1000cc injectors will be the limiting factor on e85.

and the second comment is very disappointing. My neighbors are probably awake now from the words i just spoke with my laptop when i read that. I'm severely pissed now because hal highly recommended the best ems ever just in May when i was down there and now this happens. Especially my e85 goals this was obviously not the correct choice. I did get a great deal on it so i can't really complain about that part at all.

I just can't deal with another ems change. I've learned 3 different platforms in less than a year. I'm sick of switching and just want to drive this damn car.

Hal has been Haltech's greatest asset and advocate here in the USA. I cannot speak for him and he never vocalizes this, but I sense he is equally disappointed that Haltech Australia has not come through for them. I was originally led to believe (in 2008) that there would be a development at SEMA 09 in an informal discussion with one of the engineers, so I know this has been an ongoing issue for several years. Haltech had come through with some solid updates to the platform, but perhaps they have moved on to other markets. I just don't know. They don't reply to my e-mails any longer. They used to.

I still believe Haltech has the best system at the 2k price point and far and away has the better end user GUI (imo). However, as you invest more in the car, the price point for the EMS becomes less relevant and the ProEFI software is still under active development, so...

probably best just to swap EMS's now then befor eyou get too involved with tuning the Haltech. They resell for ~$1600 all the time, so unloading it will be pretty easy. Doesnt make sense to invest alot of time if you are set on E85. Plus you are so close to SP, it should be a no brainer at this point

Hey Raj, you planning on going with the Flex Fuel Sensor also to enable you to run both regular pump and E85? I remember Jason aka Blackbird with the black G35 had the Haltech with 1 exclusive E85 map. He opted for no flex fuel sensor...actually I don't know if it is available or perhaps even compatible with Haltech, but then again, I am purely speculating...
Let me know if I can be of any assistance as well. E85 is slowly becoming a popular option. I just didn't think it was as readily available down south as it is currently in middle america.

And, if what you;re saying is true it would be great to have another ProEFI dealer/tuner on the East Coast. Good news for everyone East of Mississippi! Yeah!!!

Thanks Randy. Your positive experience with the ProEFI 128 and seeing you interact via the CAN gauge down at the airstrip was pivotal in my decision to really consider it as a viable alternative to the Haltech. If I go with the ProEFI, I will definitely go full tilt. It will replace all of my innovate data logging equipment.

crap, if only i was out of school so i could drop cash like you raj.

I'm gonna email you with figuring out pricing. I don't know if i'll need to get rid of my haltech widebands or not. it's looking like with getting rid of haltech and getting the stuff i want on the 128 i'm going to be at least a grand in the hole and that's not really feasable right now. :/
