zak, whats the word with the stability of the diff now with the new bush
HOMiEZ was right. The car's still on jack stands. Last night, I finally received the part I ordered from Amazon several weeks ago using their "one day shipping," so now I can get my right side rear control arm installed, along with the cleaned up rear axle, new Koni Yellow shock and all the other bits and pieces that need to be connected and torqued down. I plan on getting that done tonight. By Sunday, I hope to have everything else wrapped up and then I'm taking the car for a nice long drive around town to test out the suspension and handling. I'm thinking in about 4 weeks, the car's going in for an alignment.
Speaking of alignments, right now I'm not too happy with how bad the inside corners look on the rear tires and after searching through my file cabinet, found the printout from the last alignment I had done two years ago and it says that the rear tires were set to a camber angle of -2 degrees. I'd like to get that down to -1 degree, but I'm guessing I need adjustable camber arms to do that since it looks like the only thing you can adjust is the toe angle on the rear axle (someone please correct me if I'm wrong.) To be honest with you, I doubt that one extra degree toward zero camber is going to make a difference anyway, and it might even have a negative impact on handling, so maybe I just need to face the fact that my tires will need to be replaced every 20-25 thousand miles regardless of how the rest of the tire looks. Considering it takes me about 5 years to put 20 thousand miles on the car, I'm not crying over it, but still....
^Nice Garni! How much does your Z weight now? Do you get a lot of cabin noise with no sound deadening?
I eventually want to do the same thing, cutting up my interior and loosing as much weight as I can, and putting in a cage. Thanks for sharing your pics.
not sure about the current weight, once i finish fully stripping the inside and cleaning it up, i will have it re corner balanced and I’ll know the weight!
Ill get some better pics soon
Edit: cabin noise is definitely more now, can hear everything on the road hitting the underbody, exhaust drone is even more now. But, it’s not my daily driven car and it’s going to be a dedicated track car soon, so I’m okay with it
thank you, and it’s a Autopower 4 point, welded in.
i wanted the Kirk, but when i was getting the roll bar, Kirk was having a very difficult time communicating with me.
I did a little of this and a little of that, used the press as much as I could, a ball joint removal cup set would have been most helpful, but unfortunately I'm not smart enough to just go get one... I rigged some stuff, used some large sockets, destroyed my 30mm impact and got a little lucky.
Based on the multiple recommendations from MicVelo and others I got a set of Bilstein B6's and am going to put them on this weekend.
It's about 25f here so its perfect for doing jobs like this where I can crank up the crappy $35 oil heater from HomeDepot and warm up the non-insulated garage.
