Default Re: 2006 350Z Engine Recall

Hello there. I have a 2006 350Z Roadster. I took my car in this morning to the dealer to get my usual maintenance and oil change. My service advisor drove my car up a little, and she was listening to the engine. I asked her what she was doing and she said my engine is making a rattling sound.

I told her it was making that sound ever since i bought the car. She said it shouldnt. And that 2006 models have some sort of recall on the engines for the Rev up issue. She said that it over revs the engine.

She said she will have the technician look at it, and will be ordering me a brand new engine.

Has anyone got a replacement engine for their 2006 Z??? Just want to know what is going on and what the procedure was when getting it replaced. She said it was free to get all that done and she would provide a rental free of charge and that my oil change and maintence that i am getting done would be free of charge as well.

Default Here's the big Oil consumption issue post for 2005anv 300HP/2006 6MT Cars

Here's the link from your question above. Post here if this recall you mentioned has ANYTHING to do with this. Many of us are having big oil consumption issues with the so called 'REV-UP' engine. Going to ask the Admin if they can sticky the Oil consumption thread.

The dealer is in Woodland Hills, CA. If you are in the Los Angeles area you will know where its at.

Ok so i got a call back from the dealer. And they said that my oil level was low. I think it is what you were talking about. She said when i come in for my next oil change and it is low again, then they will proceed in ordering a new engine for me.

So i guess wish me luck everyone and hope i get a new motor. lol

Yeah. Your engine is probably a oil eater and oil got to low and ruined the engine (not your fault - theirs for the oil eating engine). Now they have to fix the issue.

Hmm. Nothing listed on the Nissan site, or the NHTSA site, about recalls, for the 06 Z Roadster, or the Coupe.

Thanks for looking! BTW - just how do you that? Can you educate us on your method for looking for recalls and TSB's (Many places I've looked try and charge for the info)

I don't know about one for the whole engine replacement but here is one for a ticking coming from there.

http://www.nissanhelp.com/Ownership/.../NTB06-042.htm

Now that I read it, I think I have this issue. Never thought much about it though. My car makes way different noises then most cars I've owned, just figured they are all normal noises

The nissan dealer is KEYES NISSAN. located in Woodland Hills. On Ventura Blvd.

Ok so here is scoop. I went to the dealer and pick up my car. And i noticed that the oil change only cost me $28. So i asked her what type of oil they used. SHe said non synthetic. Because with synthetic you get your oil changed every 6000 miles. But with regular oil its every 3000 miles.

I guess they want me to bring the car in as soon as possible. Plus to see if the oil drops again. Then she said if the oil drops again, she will proceed in ordering the new engine. So i am looking forwarding to seeing what happens when i take my car in next time.

By the way off the subject for a bit, but does anyone know how remove soap residue off of a wheel that has kind of a chrome lip??? Need help.

Mine has that ticking noise too but the noise seems to collect around the y pipe. It gets worse with any aftermarket exhaust products. I have had it at the dealership a few times, went back to stock exhaust (noise still present)and they are still puzzled. I finally said the hell with it and put tp's and y pipe back on. Anyone else had this problem with their 06?
