Default Should I Buy a HR or DE 350z?

Hi, I’m planning on buying a 350z very soon. My only question is which one should I get? I really want the HR because the power difference and redline but no one in my area is selling one. The closest HR that I like that I’ve found is 500 miles away. I found a 2004 DE in very good condition with 87,000 miles for $6000. Should I just say screw it and buy the DE or would it be smart to just keep waiting for a HR. Would I regret buying the DE?

I'm at 108K on an 06DE, uses no oil and runs like new. If it's been well maintained either is a good choice. Unless you ever want to go FI, then it's DE only.

The plan was actually to go FI eventually. Why do you say you can only go FI on a DE?

The HR is a better engine. Stock. Not enough to make a huge difference but after both engines are FBO you will be 30-40 whp ahead.
The DE is MUCH cheaper to boost mid power levels 450ish WHP.
the HR is better if you are looking for 500tq/600hp on a stock block
If you are building the block then it doesn't really matter you will spend the same.

Ask your self real questions. Are you actually going to boost it? If no go get an HR
If yes are you going to cheap out and buy used parts and half *** it? Then get the DE
Are you going to spend 25k boosting? Then it doesn't matter
If you are just going to keep the car stock just get the DE.

Iv'e owned a Revup 06 and now a Nismo 2008.

Well regarding DE and HR; I'll say regarding keeping the car stock. Mind I live in Europe. DE is cheaper. Parts are cheaper. Yiu can get clutch for a DE half if not more cheaper than for an HR. HR doesn't have an aftermarket DMF. OEM one is insanely expensive. HR uses 2 air filters, 2 MAF sensors, 2 throttle bodies. So everything is x2 compared to a DE. Most of the parts, that don't interchange with the engines are more expensive for an HR. RevUp has a high oil consumption which can be PITA if you're **** like me. If you're looking at cheap cars - either DE or HR - than I guess you wont bother going with oem parts, so it makes it easier to decide.
IMO there isn't much noticebale difference in everyday between DE and HR.

Like all things it depends on how well it was maintained. I wouldn't worry about DE VS Rev up there isn't a large difference. If you are buying a DE find the best example. Not all revups consume oil, but I wouldn't buy one with out knowing for a fact. my car had 135k on it and I never once had to add oil to it and I change oil 3500-5k miles. I got lucky, I didn't know about the issues when i bought the car.
The HR is worth going out of the way for, but as with all things, its more expensive.
I strongly disagree that the HR isn't much different on the day to day I feel like the people who say this have never driven an HR or have for 10 minutes at a dealership where you dont pick up the difference because you are expecting more power and are looking for that. Its just a much better sorted car, even sounds better IMO. the TQ band is more linear, the 7500 RPMs is significant IMO. (62 MPH at the top of 2nd) Engine feels smoother and responds to mods better. But it really is a ton more expensive. like knowing you will need to pay 500 bucks to remove the slave cylinder because one-day it might just go out. Or oil galley gaskets that will need to be fixed. 4 camshaft sensors instead of 2 (Revups have this too)
