do any of you know of a good place to do some engine work in east tn? i maybe going FI next year and I want to know of some good shops to do the work and tuning

 

There's a guy in the Cleveland area that's good. He deals mainly in domestics, but installed my vortech.

 

i want to run the vortech sc in my car too. have you done any kind of engine work in terms of forged internals? i'm really worried about detonation when going FI but I haven't found anyone blowing up with the vortech sc so i'm assuming its pretty safe.

 

No internal work, but I have only put about 3K miles on since the install. It runs good. I also will be putting on the 3.12 pulley for a little extra boost this month.

 

do you have an auto or manual? and any other work done to your car? sorry for all the questions, i just haven't talked to someone locally who has done anythin to their car

 

I have the 5AT. I have the Vortech (tuner kit), plenum spacer, fuel return, emanage, borla dual. There are a few FI Z around. There is a Greddy in Knox. A Turbonetics in Chattanooga/North Georgia. There is also a guy in Chattanooga that will get his car back soon that is building it for the drag strip. It should be a monster.

 

have you had any problems with your at transmissions and the kit? i've read some posts where people had to do a valve body upgrades etc

no problems to date. i did flash the ecu to raise the rev limiter. i will probably get the valve body someday, but i don't think i need it right now.
