I will be moving to St. Louis from California in Jaunuary. I just wanted to know how the weather is and what to expect in St. Louis. Does it snow? Will I need Snow tires? Stuff like that. So all you STL guys and gals out there, I would really appreciate some insight on what I am getting myself, as well as my Z, into. Thanks.

Me+ Z+ hill+snow= hell no!! It doesn't snow alot but you well need snow tires and if you live on a hill you will need another car! I didn't make it to class today because I couldn't make it up the hill seen in the pics above (pics are from last year I didn't even bother coming out the house today!)
Tdoay is not a good day to ask about the weather! The midwest just got hammered with ice and snow... some areas had up to 15 inches. St. Louis got alot of ice and some snow. Actually, the last number of years our weather has been mild, with only a couple of occasions per year with snow. But as the previous person said... if you can help it don't live where you have to go up a hill to get out cause you won't with a Z. Todays temperature was around 17 degrees. Wednesday is was 72 degrees! The old sayiing in STL is... if you don't like the weather just wait around... it will change.
What brings you to our area?

Just moved to STL 6mos ago. Weather was great until day before yesterday. Ice everywhere. Sadly I didn't have time to get my all season tires mounted so it's walking to work for me until the ice melts.
Apparently STL doesn't get much snow but it does get some which would mandate at least all season tires.

thanks for the replies.....this helps me out a lot. Now i got an idea of what to expect.
To answer the question about me going out there, i got offered a job out there and California is just too expensive to live in right now.

(at least what I know, I have only been here since August of last year)
I recommend another beater car for the winters. I haven't driven my Z for over 2 weeks now! From the Thursday snow/ice, I still dont have power! 5 days and counting. What kind of Job did you take?

today took my Z out for the first time since the snow/ice storm on Thursday.
seems like most of the roads are clear
and thank god to the Wintersport M3's ... they got me home safe.

Hey Destiny -- I MISS YOU!!!
I have drag radials; all season; and snow tires.
We don't live on a hill -- VERY great suggestion there. DO NOT live on a steep slope around here.
With the ice storm that came through, I was driving the F150 FX4! YEAH BABY! Nothin' like rolling all over people and their cars in my 4x4!
On a serious note though -- the Z was garaged for a whole week (husband drove her once or twice after it started to melt) but I didn't get in her for 2 weeks! Poor girl missed her momma! I'm so glad all that crap melted away -- now we're a sweet pair riding down 370 at 80+ mph!
We're dreaming of moving to SD in a few years. Where you coming from?
When you getting here? Where you going to live?

Michele
