Delta AutoX Sun Jul8 Cancelled
Just got an email from Benson, tomorrow's event is cancelled.
Here's his message:
Due to a parking problem, the Delta event at Belle Chasse tomorrow is being
cancelled.
We became aware of a conflict a couple days ago, where the National Guard
was on duty this weekend and usually parks on the runways where we hold the
events (our event dates were submitted and accepted in February). After
several phone calls the the base, we were able to have the base mark off our
areas and the Guard would park on other runways. We decided to continue with
our event plans based on the feedback we had from the military.
We sent member Kenny Bosetta to check on the site on Saturday morning. He
reported hundred of cars parked all over the event site. Darren Darby, our
base liason, made some calls and determined that getting all the cars moved
by morning was not realistic.
So unfortunately, we won't be able to hold our 7/08/07 scheduled event.
We're working on a rescheduled date, but cannot announce anything at this
time. We're sorry for any inconvenience, and hope to see everyone out at the
next event. Please help spread the word.
To get your Solo fix this month:
-Cenla's next event is their night Solo on Saturday, July 21st.
-Gulf Coast Region is their Solo event on Sunday, July 22nd in Grand Bay,
AL. This Pensacola-based club is without a local site since Hurricane Ivan
in 2004. Delta is quite familiar with trying to rebuild after a disaster, so
I encourage our members to support our neighboring clubs. Grand Bay is less
than two hours from New Orleans.

Yeap. I actually thought I might be able to make tomorrow's event. Been tied up with some remodeling the last couple of months and haven't made the last two or three.
