A ? What benefit is it to run different hoses, like the Samco, Mishimoto, etc., hoses in your cars? Better heat dissipation? More rigidity, not so much flex? Just looks? Have seen them and was just wondering the value of them.

Also, FD gears. I've been reading a lot on them and have a question. Is a re-flash absolutely necessary, raising the rev limiter to 7200 rpm, to handle the shorter gears? I think you couldn't go wrong with either the 3.9 or the 4.08. I'm not sure which yet but I am still searching around. The re-flash thing was a concern though.

Hoses are for looks mostly, but since they're silicone they will last a long time. IMO i wouldnt waste your money until a replacement is necessary.

As far as FD the 4.08 IMO is just to low of gear and takes away to much of top end speed, and would make traction on the bottom end alot harder. Especially w/o a ugraded LSD. I personally am going/searching for the 3.9.

I've said it before, but i guess i will have to repeat it i would not get a reflash!!!! If you take your car in for maintenance at the dealer and they have to clear codes etc. your flash will be gone. Since we have zero for tuners in the area and driving to dallas, etc would be a PIA for that utecs, haltecs, etc. are out and i would get a Cobb accessport were you can get tunes online, etc.etc. oh and raise your rev

If the dealer clears codes it will not reflash your ecu...if they have a update for your specific concern then they will reflash your ecu. If your still under warranty then they will just do it..if your not then they should call and try to sell you a reflash. Or at least that's how it works at the dealerships I have worked at...

Hmmm? my bad, i have read to many ill stuff w/relfashes i guess? for the money i would just as soon have equip n my hand say accessport? Ive never read or heard anyone to be happy w/a reflash unluess it was soley for a rev limit change, with the reflash its stuck like that forever or until you pay the same amount for another flash. so its makes more sense to get something like a acessport where you can continue to change as your needs change, plus the fact you can sell it you need to.

Yeah sorry I always say re-flash when I mean re-tune. Lol! I was wondering if it was absolutely necessary to get a re-tune when upgrading FD Gears so that you could raise your rev limiter. I would definitely get an access port if I were doing that. And with the hoses I figured they were something like that. I was just wondering because I see so many for sale and was just wondering if they offered any benefit over longevity/looks.

+1...I totally agree with you The only downfall that I can see with the AP is nobody has made decent power gains with it. But more then likely i'll either be going with that or osiris...

And about the FD gears...I to have been looking at this. The 4.08 wouldn't loose any useable top end...you would just have to shift into 6th. Here is what I came up with.

I used the stock tire size on a 06. Here is the stock gearing. (NON REV-UP)

3.538
redline...6700rpms
1st...3.794
2nd...2.324
3rd...1.624
4th...1.271
5th...1.000
6th...0.794

MPH
1st...39
2nd...64
3rd...92
4th...118
5th...150
6th...189

Here is 3.9 FD
1st...35
2nd...58
3rd...83
4th...107
5th...136
6th...171

Here is 4.08 FD
1st...34
2nd...56
3rd...80
4th...102
5th...130
6th...164

Now correct me if i'm wrong on any of the gearing. All I did was google this info. But going from a 3.9 to a 4.08 with our 6 speed tranys isn't going to effect 1st and 2nd as much as it does the rest of the gears. That being said I would still go for the 3.9 just for the fact that it will almost be as low as the 4.08 but it will be better for cruising in 6th.

Wow. You can really see the difference in the 3-6 gears there. I think the 06 rev-up has a little bit better max speed per gear but that's due to the higher rev limiter(i think). But before I get the FD gears I need an lsd. And then I want brakes. And then more stuff.....

The first Madagascar was funny too but I haven't gotten to see the second one yet. If anyone likes movies like that then go on youtube and look for the upcoming movie called 9. It looks freakin awesome! Wooo!

Na! Thanks though. I found one in the thread of mine you commented on! The hood has been cut already and looks good! I can't wait to get it back. I'll post pics of it asap when I get it back!

The RS Concept 350z hood. It looks good. I've seen cell pics of the hood and there are like 1 or 2 little spots to it that I am not happy with but that is just me being WAY ocd perfectionist about it. You have to be right on top of it to notice it at all. Over all I think I am going to like it alot. If not then I'll think of something....
