Default Beware of Carolina Auto Masters in Durham

From the Corvette Forum. An employee took a customer's C6 for an authorized trip/ride and wrecked it.

I think it was un-authorized but either way the business needs to cough up the $$!

Ouch, i've been there before. That's really unprofessional and is the main reason why i try to do most work on my car as i can. Goes to show that not only teen workers take customer's cars out for joy rides.

Appeared to be authorized by the owner of CAM, but not the car's owner. Either way the business needs to straighten it out.

It has become a serious discussion on the Corvette Forum. The thread is already 10 pages long in less than 24 hrs.

I go there for my dyno's. Always have been pretty cool, although everyone told me I should have "just bought a Vette" if I'm looking for power.

Watched Pinks the other day when they were on there last year.

I think so many there were so quick to jump on the blame wagon. If you looked at the last page, Jeff did offer her to settle and she refused. Jeff has been doing this for years with a great reputation. It appears that he deffinately made a mistake, but he has offered to rectifiy it. If the owner wont call him back, that makes it very hard.

Sometimes people need to know the whole story before jumping on someone's case.

Jeff did offer to settle in the last page of the thread, but whether that offer is sincere remains to be seen. If the owner of the car owed money on it she likely had to work through her own insurance carrier since the matter has taken this long to get resolved.

As for Jeff's reputation there appear to be two camps on that one. Some people are like you and think he does good work, others don't, including a friend of mine who had major problems with Jeff's work.

What Jeff didn't do in his response is explain why he allowed his employee take a customer's car without the customer's permission for the employee's personal use. That should concern anyone who has a tuner/shop do work on one's car. I'm not sure anyone could or would defend those actions.
