Default 350Z Cookout this Saturday! --- near Raleigh, NC

For those who may have missed it or need the details, here they are again!

First, Moderators... please, please do not move this post (in fact, if you can make it a “sticky” that would be just dandy! ).

Our event is in less than two weeks
We are hoping to possibly draw some Virginia Z owners so, rather than post cross-regional, I am posting here.
Now... on to the show... Details are not completely final, but the Charlotte, NC 350Z club is organizing what will be a 350Z drive and cookout for the weekend before the 4th of July. Here is what we know so far...

WHEN: Saturday, June 28th around noon

WHERE: Jordan Lake State Park near Raleigh, NC

WHO: We're organizing this as a 350Z event to get the Charlotte and Raleigh 350Z enthusiasts together, but I think it would be cool for it to be open to any Zs.

Okay, that's the rough cut of the plan. Further details are still being worked on. If you are interested, you must email me at mcduck@earthlink.net

Updates will get posted here, but they go out to the mailing list quicker. More importantly, I must have a head count to reserve the picnic shelter for the cookout. The prices vary by shelter size and we don't want to get one that is too big (or too small) for the group. If possible, tell me when you first email me if you are likely to attend.

Also, be aware that this will not be a free event. There is a $4 per car admission to the park itself that you will have to pay no matter what.

The cookout may or may not require that I ask for a "contribution" as well. The latter will depend on the number of attendees. If we actually use a shelter and do food together, I'm thinking $6 for driver alone, $5 for each additional person you bring. Basically, this works out to $10 total for one person or $15 for two (to get into the park and to eat). MMmmm...... Spammmm...... arrgggllllll.....

Nothing fancy... probably burgers, hot dogs, chips, soft drinks, tea, and so on.

No promises, but if I can verify a decent number of Zs a few days prior to the event, we may do a "car show". Depends on numbers, car mix, etc. Mostly for fun, but I may run out and get a trophy or two... or maybe gift certificates for Outback or something.

So, what are you waiting for??? Email me already!!!

OOPS! Just realized that my post above had no detailed info. Sorry about that everyone. Let's try this...

(a better formatted version of the info below can be found on the Charlotte/Raleigh joint meeting thread elsewhere in this section)

· A contribution of $5 per person to help cover the cost of the picnic shelter and food would be appreciated.
· Amount of food provided will based on confirmed attendees. This will include hamburgers, hotdogs, condiments for both, chips, and soft drinks. If you want something other than this to eat, please bring it with you.

· Loud music and noise is prohibited at the park. If you like your music loud, please turn it down while at the park.
· Please do not litter! Trash and recycling receptacles are available for your trash.

Information for Charlotte 350Z drivers – Rally Point:
· Charlotte drivers can meet their counterparts Saturday morning to take part in a “Z caravan” to the park, or you can drive separately if you like.
· Meeting time will be 9:00am with a 9:30am departure time to ensure we arrive at Jordan Lake State Park before noon. We will be leaving at 9:30am sharp, so make sure you get to the rally point before then.
· Meeting location is the parking lot of the K-Mart on NC49 near UNCC in Charlotte. Full directions to the meeting location and to the park are included below.

Directions to K-Mart at UNCC
From I-85 North
· Take the NC29/NC49 exit off of I-85 (exit 42)
· Follow exit until it merges with US29, move into the right lane as soon as possible.
· Take second turn on the right onto US49 (first turn is Rocky River Rd)

· At the first parking lot intersection, turn left and look for the other Zs!
From I-85 South
· Take the Mallard Creek Church Rd exit off I-85 (exit 46A)
· Turn so you have to cross over the highway (not sure if this is a right or left turn off the exit ramp)
· Go through first traffic light (US29 intersection). Continue on Mallard Creek Church Rd.
· Turn right at 3rd traffic light (from highway exit) onto US49.
· At 4th traffic light, turn right into shopping center parking lot (you should see a McDonald’s restaurant on your right)

NOTE! If you cross over Jordan Lake, you have gone too far!!!! Turn around and come back to the first traffic light. This should be N. Pea Ridge Rd.

Mapquest driving time from UNCC area to the park is 2 hrs/15 minutes. The group will be leaving the parking lot at 9:30am sharp to ensure we get to the park in time. If you arrive late, just use the directions to catch up with everyone else! J

Directions for non-Charlotte Attendees:
· I have attached .pdf maps of the park area to this email. (if you are reading this message on one of the 350Z websites, contact me by email at mcduck@earthlink.net to get copies of the maps.
· If you use Mapquest, use the Driving Directions option and use North Pea Ridge Road, Pittsboro, NC as your final destination. This should get you right to the park.

Default Who from Raleigh?

I'm wondering who from Raleigh is planning on showing up Saturday. I know of at least 3, including myself.

I'll be there showing off the results of applying a couple of coats of the newly-reformulated Zaino Z2. Believe it or not, it's even shinier!

I second what he said!

I think we all had a good afternoon. It looked like we were going to get rained out, but except for a few sprinkles we had a great day; pleasant temperature and not too much sun.

It was great as we were leaving, I was on the highway (in my Silverstone) with two Daytona Blues ahead of me and two LeMans Sunsets behind me! Symmetry!

Here's one of my pics, showing most of the cars that showed up:

Default WTF?

Well, I said "one more" and then after that I had another one I thought worth posting so, like the wise man said, "Sometimes you just have to say 'What The F*CK?'"

Thanks for posting the pics. Andy should have his pics posted soon.

It was great meeting everyone and seeing their mods. I hope Charlotte and Raleigh can hook-up more often. For the Raleigh group, please keep us Charlotte guys in mind for your future meets!

Thanks to everyone who came out Saturday! We had 9 350Zs and 1 G35... not too bad a turnout considering rain threatened all day (though there wasn't any the whole time we were at the park!).

Fun facts...
 • Moss and his wife drove down from Richmond, VA for the cookout. So they win the prize for longest commute. Moss also had the only auto Z there, I believe
 • Devin brought the only G35 to show up for the cookout. Of course, our Infiniti cousins are always welcome!
 • 6 of 8 colors were represented. We were short a RedLine, Pikes Peak White... although these colors have shown up for other events. Sooner or later we'll make a full set!
 • I brought the only Brickyard and only Performance model
 • All models but Base were represented

Okay, without further ado... a few pics.

We'll start out with a shot of the Z line up...

Default Devin's G35

this was my first chance to see the Coupe up close... very posh! I still don't like the rear of the car, but everything else is impressive. Not to mention Devin keeps his very clean.
