Being brand new to this town, can someone fill me in on how the Charlotte PD and State Troopers enforce the speed limit? How strict are they? What areas should I watch out for? I live in South Charlotte area...if that helps at all.
Any advice on safe speeding would be VERY helpful to me.

Best thing we can do is discuss this in person.
I will say this... Charlotte recently instituted "Speed Cameras" on several main roads. You will notice below the speed limit sign, it will say "Camera Enforced" or something like that. I do not know how sensitive these cameras are... might let you slip just a few MPH, might not.
Bad news is there are many roads with these. The good news is that it is a $50 fine, no court, no points on your license if the camera busts you.
NC State Troopers are ****** (generalization... I have met a few cool ones, but for the most part they are a55es). In general, I don't speed too much around the city. I wait until i get to outlying areas. The highways you're pretty safe up to about 10mph over the speed limit even in the city. OVer that, watch the exit ramps.
There is NO place I would recommend a very high speed blast. Charlotte roads are patrolled just enough to make me nervous about that and most are fairly conjested.

Yes, I noticed my radara dector was going apeshit on K-Band as I passed through some of these "camera enforced" intersections. Do the State Troopers use instant on radar? Or the always on kind? How about laser?
Thanks for the tips...how is the car coming along?

Just as an FYI, one of my best friends is a State Trooper and he just got a new unmarked Dark Blue Pearl Crown Vic today. He is a very cool, straight-up guy, not your ordinary Trooper type.
